Community discords are better spent on discussion or sharing subjective experiences. If you are seeking grounded information, then official source or google search is always going to be the more appropriate option. If anything, the baseline for product knowledge is probably lower in here than what you'd get from any of the first 10 results of a google search.

I downloaded Atlas specifically to automate downloading my media from the old Sora, since OpenAI doesn’t have an automated function to do this and I couldn’t get past the Sora login screen in the ChatGPT Agent mode browser. Now ChatGPT Atlas is telling me it can’t automatically download files for me. I want to disable that protection; I don’t need it for my security and it only gets in the way of convenience. I did a little experimenting and it’s able to click a link if it doesn’t know it’ll lead to a download and can’t check, so I thought of maybe creating a userscript to obfuscate download URLs so the AI doesn’t see it as downloading. But I feel like measures like that shouldn’t be necessary in order to get my own browser to handle security on my terms rather than its own. I am okay with it downloading files autonomously as long as it cannot execute them autonomously, but even if I tell it to it won’t, and I don’t see any setting to disable this protection. Has anyone found a workaround to get this to work? Because this is ridiculous.

This is leaving me with a very bad first impression of the browser.

I agree that the agentic mode should have a detailed settings list for privacy controls. I do not want an agentic browser that is too afraid to do anything. i remember when it first launched, you could give it a well crafted prompt and it would have issues running

When I would be planning this for this kind of user base, the next thing would be iOS, most likely then Android (even if it's the largest chunk, just because it's similar to iOS and the usage might not spike instantly), Windows last.

Does OpenAI have any plans to let the user specify the security policy for what the AI can access, like how browsers are supposed to work? It’s my computer, my browser cookies; let me decide and take responsibility for my own security. All I’m trying to do is bulk download some files from the old Sora and it is refusing to download files, when I never set such a policy for my browser, and I can’t find any option to change it.

Until then, has anyone found a workaround for that? I’ve been experimenting with using extensions to edit the page and make the AI think it’s doing something other than downloading; that at least convinced the AI to try it, but the browser didn’t actually initiate the download. ⌘-⇧-W is "close window" which just closes the current window, it's not quitting (that's: ⌘-q). You can reopen closed tabs or closed windows with ⌘-⇧-T. There is an option to prevent quitting with ⌘-Q (which basically is insane that this is a default option, it's just not how macOS works).

I see that you don't have any proof, but just to entertain myself: it's to showcase agent capabilities and to get more user engagement for now. When I click on settings, nothing opens, and when the app is in fullscreen, leaving fullscreen after watching a YouTube video makes the screen slide left as if I’m switching virtual desktops.
