However, the model in that chat can 'see' the file. You can ask it to use python tool to create a downloadable version of that file and download that, which often works. You do need to be able to discuss inside that chat, and I'm not sure if the mini can do this, but the full 5 that you get a few messages with should be able to, I would definitely try it.

Note, you're not getting the original. You're getting a download of a new file, so you want to carefully explain that you want the file it has duplicated in full.

GPT 5 is broken and rendered my windows computer less useless than a brick to tie down a house during a cat 5 hurricane. 3 times in 3 days and even messed with stuff I wasn’t touching

I’ve used ChatGPT for years to fill gaps in knowledge for me, done a ton of system tweaks, never had a single problem until GPT 5.

In the last 72 hours

• Gave me over 70 “fix” commands, only 14 were actually different after disabling things that weren’t asked for.
• Some of the same ones were repeated 3 to 5 times in a row after they already failed and been communicated as such.
• Around ~80-90% percent had syntax errors before I could even run them
• None of them fixed the problem
• On top of that it broke things that weren’t even part of what I was asking about, like disabling random adapters, changing power and offload settings, wiping TCP/IP and DHCP bindings, killing services, and forcing driver reinstalls I didn’t ask for.

My system and NIC has been rock solid for almost 5 years with aggressive tuning, 90% done by hand myself. GPT 5 was the first thing to kill it and it happened multiple times. This cost me around 30 hours of work and thousands in lost revenue.

If you care about your system do not run GPT 5’s for anything important right now.
