ChatGPT holds a lot more functions than grok, from api functions to actual long term memory, grok was made in 2023, OpenAI was 2015, by now OpenAI has a whole structure and system and where I do agree with this, OpenAI can do a lot more actual programming and even if you look at the new tools, OpenAI functions on another level, so it kinda makes sense why they keep the session shorter, imagine if someone who didn’t know what they were doing got into a long convo like with grok yet their intentions are unethical, and it ends up being more of a security issue than I’m sure OpenAI wanting to cut our sessions short

Basically define the tone, role, task, your weaknesses, subjects, etc.

Also, you can make Custom GPTs, or use Projects to include papers as knowledge base.

What's special about Custom GPTs is they are more like a character (with a name, description and icon) and multiple different Custom GPTs can be mentioned in the same chat via the @ command.

So you can have a GPT special at history, another for learning korean, and use any even in the same chat.

Only problem about Custom GPTs is they don't have a model selector; they are stuck on 4o only, while projects can use any model that supports them like o1 and 4.5.

Thanks for the suggestions. As for this, I tried it but I get a small text on top saying that the speed and quality of the gpt output is probably affected by the files. I don't know if that means anything since the file is only a few dozen pages of a chapter.

As long as it's formatted well, and you explain the purpose of each file in custom instructions, as well as encouraging the model to use info from the Knowledgebase (files), it should be fine. You can upload up to 20 files, each file 2 million tokens long...

Try sticking with PDFs, Word Documents, or plain .txt, as some formats can only be analyzed via the Data Analysis tool (which you don't want to be the case).

4o is great, but 4.5 and o1 hallucinate much less, and work with files and custom instructions better, so you may want to reconsider them especially for tasks that involve file analysis and better instruction following.

• I do not understand what you are saying well, but you are hinting at hallucinations there. Typically, a research would take an hour or so at max, and it will show you the progress bar with real-time thinking process until it's done. After completion, it will tell you how long it took, cite the sources, and you can see its detailed thinking steps.
• It can't export documents, but you can use a model that supports the Data Analysis tool like o1 or 4o to have it create a downloadable PDF for you based on the research. You can also copy the prompt, but it will be pure text copied to the clipboard and formatted in Markdown.
• Prompt very well, be detailed, and don't ask for too many things.

At a guess, it's possible that what is allowed changes over time. I would expect that if there's a concerned person who is asking OpenAI to not allow something involving their copywritten or trademarked or otherwise their stuff, OpenAI would surely make some kind of decision. That can affect what outputs are made, and it can continue to change over time as needs and pressure changes, as the expectation and preferences of society continue to change.

So, it does make sense to me (I'm just another community member, I don't work for OpenAI) that prompts that worked 'sometime in the past' - maybe even a day ago, might get different output at any future point. If you're interested, maybe look into 'fair use' and similar. If you wish, I discussed this recently with another person on the discord, you're welcome to follow along if you're really interested and see a glance at some of the rules and options involved in generally what's allowed and okay to ask for. #prompt-engineering message

API is entirely different use case, but they have stuff like Playground where you can test the models in a ChatGPT like interface, also similar the one found in Google AI Studio.

API goes down less...

But ChatGPT stuff like tooling and rendering markdown text properly, it's something to do yourself.

You will be missing the tooling such as Search, Deep Research, Canvas, AVM, Custom GPT / Project, Data Analysis (Code Interpreter), and 4o Image Gen...

You can replicate some manually like Projects, especially after their new agents API, but still manual work. You mostly use the API for integration to another app, not as a replacement to ChatGPT.

But sometimes it's also better to use some models through the API like o series, as they have 200k input and 100k output tokens...

After testing it with Custom GPTs, I can see much better results in reduced hallucinations and better accuracy. The only problem is it will always use 4.5 by default, chipping away at the limited 4.5 uses in the Plus Plan even when 4.5 accuracy is not always needed. Sometimes I just want to use 4o anyways. The model selector in Custom GPTs is now more important than ever...

I found both O1 and 4.5 great for file analysis, and they work really well within Projects, are able to use RAG nicely, and generally connect the dots better...

4.5 is $ 50 per week for Plus as mentioned. So don't always use it; try mixing and matching models instead. Every model is good and bad at specific stuff.

Models won't always answer in the best way. Every time the seed is random, so sometimes it will answer correctly, other times not. That's the nature of all models. Results will not always be perfect.

Prompt well with enough context, clearly and goal-based, and formatted in Markdown. Don’t overuse negative prompting as it can do more harm than good (for example, saying "don't mention Elephants!" will have it thinking about Elephants).
Also note of these stuff that may cause lower quality outputs:

• Memory or Custom Instructions entries that may pollute context
• Overly long chats.
• When a hallucination happens, it will most likely stick for the entire convo. Better start a new chat.

heya, I was talking with chatgpt what it would need to be able to create music.. this was the answer (in short) .. what do you guys think? will chatgpt be getting this feature? User Prompt → ChatGPT (interprets prompt, adds context)
→ Formats a request for the audio module
→ Sends request via API to the MusicLM/MusicGen model
→ Audio Module generates a sequence of audio tokens
→ Vocoder decodes tokens into an audio waveform
→ Audio file is returned to ChatGPT
→ ChatGPT delivers audio file link/embedded player to the user

Usually I first prompt in ChatGPT to give me the lyrics, styles, and optionally the title and cover art, then have Suno generate the actual Audio of the song / instrumental...

Both GPT-4o and GPT-4.5 write nice lyrics.

Fun fact that suno by itself is not enough, I had to use more tools too, enhancment, Music Studio such as SoundTrap and addtional ones, Special models for other stuff. And in the end it results smth good.

I would also use it more for sketches then something final. I imagine it would be nice to talk with cahtgpt about certain chord progressions, scales etc. then let chatgpt do a layout song/music.. and use that as basis for a professional production in studio. 99.7% uptime means roughly 30 of every 10000 transactions are failing. With millions of concurrent users that means thousands of random concurrent failures. The data is there, we're talking about it. It's all in the open, no surprise.
Solution: Wait until it's fixed.
