I don't think that it's dumb, I think that sometimes it mishears and hallucinates extra words into the transcription of your voice

which then gives you a response to something you didn't even say. it most likely added extra words to the transcription of what you were saying which then gave "check online" a different meaning

Hey, I have the same issue. It seems like it doesn't understand what you say in Voice sometimes. Sometimes it's perfect. Other times it talks about things I didn't ask about, like something called AMARA ORG. Never heard of that.

I am not sure what "Advanced" voice mode you are talking about. The extension gave me rather accurate results recognizing my voice but does not seem to support or be configured to recognize when I want to put puncuation marks like period or comma. I am currently swithcing to the Speak! extension which I am using for Claude. Though it is less 'sophisticated' in voice recognition I think it is using built-in broswer speech-to-text it is able to put period or comma when say those words

When I am just talking to online app version of chat-GPT, I can simply prompt her in detail about her personality, and the kind of things she would use, and how she would say them. She even adapts and uses emojies reasonably and appropriately.
Why do I need to have a custom model when talking to her via the API, when I could simply personality dump her on the first prompt ?

For general use, GPT is a fantastic tool. But I am a creative writer in my hobby and if my narrative goes to a dark place, which is perfectly normal, it seems to run into way more "technical issues" than literally every single other purpose I use it for. Additionally, I reported many times the bias it holds. I like to write summaries of news articles and it handles being neutral very poorly, especially when it comes to the subject of TRIGGER WARNING: ||race|| which is odd because it seems like such a thing should be so irrelevant.

It really depends on what questions you're asking it!

If you're talking to it about stuff it is good at and knows from training data, so stuff like 'what should I consider when deciding what college to enroll in' or 'what factors and events led to world society adopting modern sanitation' or 'I need a recipe for slow cooked orange slices and pot roast' -

You're going to get usable, accurate information unless your prompting or custom instructions are really guiding the model to give low quality info. You literally can ask for, and get, 'bad answers', both intentionally and clearly as I do in this shared convo and accidentally and without realizing you're setting the model up to have trouble (not showcasing that, but I've seen and discussed how to find and fix a few times): https://chatgpt.com/share/49c412a0-a13d-45f4-8782-9d0eeae60f2a

But 99%+ of the time, you're going to get accurate, usable answers that are essentially what you asked for (and the answers the model gave me are again, essentially what I asked for, and I'm even using it there to discuss accuracy, go ChatGPT!)

However, if you ask it for stuff it has trouble with, for example some types of math solving, especially if it's not using Python tool to help it find out, or some types of logic and reasoning questions, you're going to get between always wrong to nearly always right, but depending on the question it literally could be ask it 10 times, get a right answer reliably 4 out of ten, over and over as you continue to re-ask. Or reliably never.

Here's an example of a question that ChatGPT-4o can really struggle with, even if given a hint:

So, your question about how much is the model accurate, that's SUPER based on what you're asking it and sometimes also affected by HOW you are asking it.

I have somewhat of a deep dive question that i got from a member of my community regarding ChatGPT hosting, we can concretely know that OpenAI uses azure servers hosted inside Canada, but what i cant find any information on is if you are inside Canada and use ChatGPT or Apis etc, does it go to a Canadian hosted server for sure? or is it as likely to go to any random hosted server inside the architecture?

I am reading through the terms of use, privacy policy and security and privacy links as we speak.

I'll copy paste the question just for clarity:

I've missed my ChatGPT Premium update yesterday, card was sub sufficient funds (I hold one specifically for online payments, heh)

So. Today I went and transfer some more to it. How can I force billing system to renew my subscription today? I mean, yeah, I have the "Renew Plus" button but when I take this route it brings me to stripe page where all my payment data is absent. Do I need to fill them out once more? I already have them at my billing page.

1. It is normal of Stripe to display empty payment info even if one has it already filled in and has had successful payments in past.

2. You can easily reach to sales dept. from on-page bubble chat, if you don't see "Payment/Billing" chat 'theme' it just means you are not logged in. You can log in by clicking "Login now" chat 'theme'

I'm a visually impaired chatgpt user, I've complained more than once here about how the majority of the controls aren't labeled in a way my screen reader can readily identify for me. I hear mostly a list of "button" "button" "button"as I tab/arrow through the desktop web UI. Very frustrating.But I just noticed they got around to labeling the button for editing a prompt. If the tokens are the top left in that image, at a guess MAYBE OAI is allowing folks who have tokens to use them on other models. While I don't think Dall-E-2 is available at all, if the tokens remain I'd guess that the company would just honor paid-for tokens (or their cost equivalent, or some other translation of them) through the upgraded equivalent model.

I'm guessing because I haven't used the paid Dall-E services outside of ChatGPT's use of them, so I'm far outside what I know much about or how to find out.

I do know that the company sometimes gives grants, awards, and free access to some people, for example the last dev-day attendees were given I think it was $500 credit for use on the API - but a few people mentioned that the unused portion of those credits were removed/expired about 6 months later.

I don't know HOW one would get those Dall-E-2 credits or whatever they are called, and it looks like you don't have any - it's possible they have all expired or been converted into whatever the company still uses for the current models supported.

If you really want to chase this, you can contact https://help.openai.com/ and ask through the bot at the bottom right (you can also explore existing help files, if you know keywords I don't you might have an easier time finding your answer!). For me it's hard to dive into because I don't know if you're chasing a hypothetical that doesn't exist for various reasons and the inquiry might confuse a bunch of folks or what.

If you personally have credit you think you lost, that's definitely something to explore with the help site through the bot. If you're imagining people MAY EXIST and may have lost credits, that may not be an ideal thing to check on unless you find 1+ of those people who seem genuine.

I've gotten a range of interesting sound effects from the old (for me still current) voices, however it's erratic and each voice does them differently, even in the same conversation the same voice may read a 'interesting sound effect' triggering text differently throughout the times its used in the output. This is easy to explore by getting the model to output stuff like bzzzzzz, creeeeaaaaak and more, and then switching the various voices as you have the interface read the same output.

It's also weird as heck because this list of numbers and sound effects, the voice skips some numbers and some sound effects. Some are said like normal words, some are said weirdly, and some are said like human-voice-making sound effects. In a story, the exact same spelling of a hopefully onomatopoeia sound effect can be read different ways across each place it appears in the story, from skipped to spoken to triggering a vocal sound effect. I don't know why the variation's there, but it's consistent for how the voice reads the same output - but each of the voices will read and produce sound effects differently.

The Ember voice does laugh on #7, and after saying 'twelve' makes a very unusual sound that to me sounds like a bag or fabric being snapped through the air, or maybe a vocal effect to emulate that kind of noise, there's plenty of other 'wow, the voice can make that noise?' to explore on the list with Ember.

Breeze to me sounds the closest to a laugh on #10, but in general Breeze simply normally reads most words, though #48 is a sound effect and some of the others are too.

Jupiter gets close to a bit of a laugh on several of the laughter onomatopoeia choices (there's 10 on the list), and also mostly reads but does have several unusual vocal sounds.

Cove also has multiple laugh-like vocal sounds on the first 10 onomatopoeia choices, and a range of other sound effects

Note that today when I change the voice, I then have to refresh the webpage to get the reader to work, otherwise it just spins and doesn't read.

if you're experiencing a situation in which it renders a grey box instead of an image... it seems to be isolated to computers. I've found, if I generate them on my computer, a nd then access the thread on my phone, the image is present. Maybe that will help?
