3D Prompt Enhancements

When making DALL-E art you can dramatically enhance the style, detail, and lighting using additional prompts in your description.

For example the description below will generate a fairly basic 3D render. (See image 1)

"Specimen inside a glass jar with a rusty lid, 3d render"

But say we wanted to have a liquid substance with something moist inside, preferably a glowing liquid in a lab atmosphere. The focus is on the jar, in a captivating environment.

Let's adjust the prompts a bit..

"Specimen inside a glass jar with a rusty lid, green bioluminescence, inner glow, no reflection, blurred lab background, 3D, digital art"

Now let's explain some of the prompts we added above and how it can enhance the image. Keep in mind, these prompts are specific to achieving the objective.
_

Green bioluminescence - Sets the color tone of the luminescence. Works well with liquids, steam, lights, etc. (Change to color of your choice)
Inner glow - Applies a glow to the central point of a focal object. (Works best on a singular object/entity)

No reflection - Helps reflection reduction. Useful to reduce mirrored/shiny images or reflections.

Blurred lab background - This sets the environment of the background. Blurring your background allows more attention to the focal object/entity. (Change lab to your own environment)

3D - Helps add more depth to create a 3D environment. (Works best on a singular object/entity)

Digital art - Adding 'digital art' in conjunction to the '3D' prompt will digitally enhance the photo with details you can't otherwise achieve. (Try with/without)

Looking at the images rendered below you can see a major difference when using additional prompts to enhance the image.

There are countless prompts and an endless amount of combinations that you can use to enhance and bring your art to life.

With a unique set of prompts you can create and even define your very own art style.

Does anyone have any advice on getting Dall-E 2 to generate characters from popular television shows? I'm having an easy time finding main characters like Spongebob Squarepants, but Patrick Star, for example, always just outputs a starfish, not the character.

Patrick+star is too ambiguous and it's difficult for it to figure out your meaning. When you add SpongeBob, the weight of SpongeBob SquarePants is too strong and it muted out Patrick. So, we need another way to describe Patrick without SpongeBob in the prompt.

We can do this by researching the voice actor for Patrick which is 'Bill Fagerbakke'.

A quick prompt-tip aka ranting, **when generating children-friendly animals, for kindergarten, school projects, etc. **
**cute dinosaur on white background, aquarelle, art, artsy, modern children book character design, noise texture **
white background, 80% ensures your subject stays within the frame. I've noticed that aquarelle and noise texture works well and gives aesthetically pleasing generations.

If I remove cute, then the ai generates low-quality images, as if assuming the illustrations are childish rather than MADE FOR children. while "cute" wasn't meant to emphasize quality, it acted as one.

adding famous artists as medium, in this case I'll be using: Sir John Tenniel (Alice in Wonderland), while with dinosaur, it didn't trigger artists style, with changing the subject into "cat" creates a new connection with Alice and the new generations mimic his style.
changing on white background to "comma+white background", style-wise it doesn't change anything, but in some generations 4/4 images stay within the frame, not sure whether it's because of a comma or luck.

adding more cue words like : illustration, drawing, painting etc. sometimes adding synonyms helps to increase a certain emphasis on this or that subject.

The Power of Padding

Recently, I've heard a lot about people being disappointed with images that had specific sections cut off whether it be a portrait with hair, shoulders, etc. Well, with the !pad command in #dall-e-bot, we can easily overcome these obstacles. I've been wanting to generate an image similar to this real painting (first image) recently. I knew that a prompt to capture all of the minute details in the original image would be too complex and would likely create a muddled mess, so I started small. I got the second image and headed to #dall-e-bot. I uploaded the image with the text !pad 60 which made the image 60% smaller. Then, I uploaded it back into Dall-E 2. Now, I had extra space in the generation frame since I reduced the size of the initial image (remember to delete the watermark). I knew that I wanted a carriage, so I moved the generation frame around my padded image accordingly to leave more room for the carriage than the horse's snout. After generating a similarprompt as the previous image (removed close up shot), I got the third image. Perfect, I now have a carriage! I then proceeded to do a little outpainting and was happy with the result. In total, I spent 3 credits and used the #dall-e-bot to save myself a lot of hassle trying to get perfect framing for my subject first attempt. I hope this short guide helps show that not all generations are lost causes if they don't come out quite as you were expecting! 😁

How to make some staff to look like a character.
How to make specific description to each object in a prompt without strong interference.

In my attempt to make a cinnamon stick character that is chilling in a cup of coffee like in jacuzzi, I found it very difficult to make Dall-e generate a face on the stick, not on a cup or coffee. That's not a problem with just a cinnamon stick in a prompt, but it seems that Dall-e knows a lot more about faces on a cups so very strongly tends to draw them there.
I tried different ways to specify what I want and finally I got a solution. I specified all I wanted in a short explicit unambiguous sentences, separated by points.
And finally got 3 out of 4 cinnamon sticks with a face.
Also when creating characters it is very useful to try "a character portrait of..." keywords. That's an advice I learned from creators with great results. I believe Dalle2 has a huge understanding what is a "portrait" because of huge learning data of portraits. So this is useful when you want something like an animal or stuff to be a character with some interesting style clothes or attributes that are more common for people on portraits.

I am continuing expressing my love to art deco and exploring a lot of different fields where we can use it. recently I've been thinking about making custom illustrations of cookbooks and custom brandings for different packages, i've been struggling to find the style that would match my requirements and what I had in my mind. after trying lot of different prompts, i got the one that was totally 10000% what I wanted originally.

the idea is to place object on white canvas, make is super simple and minimalistic yet rich in color while still having artsy look and textures.

prompt: "style definer" + "specific year" + type of art + subject + + palette + texture definer (these last two are optional)
e.g. art deco, 1925, graphic design, food art, pears on white background, colorful, saturated colors, add noise texture

Tip: when outpainting a famous piece of art, delete the very edges of the input.

The very edges may have slight shadows from the canvas edges or the frame. These slight differences may be more obvious in the final product or may trick the AI into thinking there is supposed to be some kind of barrier. You can get around this by erasing the very edges of the input image. The first image is an outpainting the Mona Lisa. While the result is good, you can vary plainly see the edges of the original painting. The second image is the same input, but with the pixels around the edge cut off. The end result is more seamless.

This is interesting! I have some Photoshop art I did in the years ago. They were all abstract, and I did not name them until I felt they were done. I guess I felt they were done when they had a name. Some had weird names, words that didn't even exist. So what I did is took one of my originals I did in Photoshop, put the name of it in Dall-e followed by the word "abstract". Herse's what it came up with; this first one is named " Selective Mind Control". The first image is the original Photoshop from years ago, the next 4 are what Dall-e came up with. The prompt was: "Selective Mind Control abstract".
