When you kill two enemies in the span of 5 seconds, specifically FFA modes, you'll have a combo number appear in the top right of your screen with a small bar underneath it as a timer, the bar will slowly empty over the span of 5 seconds, if you kill an enemy the bar refills and the number goes up by one, if you don't however the bar will empty and the combo will end, leaving you with whatever XP you gained from the kills. Each kill gives you XP, but in very small amounts, however if you have a high combo you'll get more XP, and you get even more XP for having variation to your kills, such as killing an enemy in the air, killing an enemy while sliding, killing an enemy with a throwable, ect.
