I got a question: as much as I LOVED how this transfer window has gone, should they have signed a left back? Luke and Malacia being gone for extended periods of time worries me.

That's my thinking too, but I still hate how United are somewhat doing patch work and neglecting key areas even in the INEOS era. The lack of a real left back last season was a huge reason we sucked last year, and with both Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia gone, we hardly have any depth there. Mazraoui put in a great shift in his first game, but if he gets hurt this season, who's replacing him? Harry Amass is still too way green to play there and we have no clue when Shaw comes back and more importantly, if he can **stay **there. The guy has missed 250+ days worth of play due to his injuries! How much longer is this going to be an issue? I feel like this was a position we needed to address much sooner in the window.

realistically, if you took this squad and put it in a liverpool shirt, they'd be pushing city and arsenal for the title. It's the leadership structure and pressure of the fanbase that's crippled our club, not individual players. on paper, we're class, but we've struggled to push beyond that outside of some grindy defensive football from LvG and Mourinho in post-Fergie times.

Let's see how tomorrow goes. I think there's a chance we grind out a counter-attack win, and I'm just a little fed-up of these 'papering over the cracks' type of victories.

All in all I will say this: Mourinho and Ole got fired in their third season for games like this and it’s a performance that would get you pink slipped at many other top clubs long before that. Casemiro was garbage, but the entire team's style is planets off what it should be. This is not the NBA, fast break counters with acres of space like what he wants them to do isn't going to work. Ten Hag doesn’t have to win the league this year but he has to have a team that can compete if it were literally any other coach or team. What Utd lacked today was the absolute bare minimum, and losing to two managers that have only been in the league for 2-3 weeks is laughable.

Ten Hag has to know getting trophies after scraping by is not going to cut it and a squad like this will entice enough of the right people under new ownership. It is only our third game of the season and our best striker is due to return along with the real CDM we will need going forward, but losing the game like this is unacceptable. I think we need to look at player psychology. We need to get some team spirit. We need to allow players to play with a bit more freedom. Without being at Carrington and seeing what goes on it’s difficult to say - but you are right single transfers isn’t the way out of this. We needed a striker and a Left back as cover in the window. All this RB that can play left back and winger/attacking midfielder as striker just isn’t working. The squad is weaker than it was and that been true year on year. Transfer gambles don’t pay off and by the Time a gamble is starting to show some promise we sell them. So I think we need to trust the players we have and get the confidence up. RVN, ETH, Wilcox, Fletcher and Ashworth all have a role to to play in that. Eth has picked this squad. It’s his team that’s clear 90% of them played for him before. His job is to get them playing free and happy. I hope he can see the issues even if he, as he says himself isn’t a footballing wizard.

That’s the issue. Two years and he will be villified like Rashford is. It’s an endless cycle. Player comes in youth or transfer and they are “brilliant” it’s “deadwood” holding us back.
