As an older fan, I wish to spell-out that Cantona was absolutely world-class, even before joining us.

He was 'Zidane higher up the pitch', but his career faltered a little because of his attitude. Won the league with Marseille, but was then sold because he disrupted the dressing room, and would've gone from Nimes to a massive club, not Leeds, if he didn't fall-out with everyone. He 'retired' from football in 1991 after a 2-3 month ban for calling-out referees etc, and was persuaded by Gerard Houllier to get his agent to force a move to England to restart his career. Leeds were the only ones to nibble as they thought they could harness him.

Turns-out, they kinda did, and Fergie saw enough to know he could reign him in and get the talent out of him.

Diallo is a great example recently of how that has paid off

Nothing is perfect... but young players NEED to play, and so if they are going to sit on a bench with us, there needs to be a very good reason for it.

Also, they need the experience of playing for clubs and seeing what it is like... there are a lot of dynamics involved in a loan.... some straight forward, and some not

Sverre Halseth Nypan's name has been internally discussed by Manchester United's recruitment officials in recent weeks.

United's admiration for the Norweigan midfielder's profile and skillset is the result of frequent scouting visits in recent seasons.

There are early suggestions of a purchase and subsequent loan back to Rosenborg BK, where the youngster is said to be content in his continued development.

In any case - United's interest cannot be formalised until the upcoming January transfer window at the earliest, with Nypan's eighteenth birthday falling on December 19th - in accordance with Brexit regulations.
