I don't know where you think we'll find any other future 50+ cap English centre-backs for under 70m in this market, but taking into account his likely salary, it's a very comparable deal to a potential one for de ligt. so, the choice is: Homegrown young talent, or big-name leader with tricky injury record.
The problem comes when you overpay like that on someone like Mount, when his wages are obscene, and he's not got room to develop either.

On Zirkzee, just as a straight comparison with Hojlund and Haaland last year, you can see Zirkzee is superior in passing within the box and receiving passes.... Now that last stat is definitely a big part of the team dynamics, but you can see how he was used and what kind of player he is. He is much more involved in the lead up than Hojlund would be... and the passing in the box says he creates additional opportunities as well.

I think we need too for squad depth... realistically, who else are you going to get for now as a holding mid, if Casemiro goes you definitely need him.... he is not THE guy, but we can't replace every position with elite players in one window. I think he makes sense as a depth player

Comparing Amrabat this past year to his last year at Fiorentina (granted, he played 50% less minutes with ManUtd this year). Main take aways is that he went from CARRYING the ball significantly less with ManUtd which is inline with our inability to play out of the back and play possession based football. This is evenly balanced by the fact that he then significantly had to perform more defensive actions for ManUtd, showing how are back lines are more pressed because we don't move the ball well.
So when you go to judge Amrabat, take into consideration the type of player he was with Fiorentina, and the style they played, vs then coming to ManUtd and not playing that style at all, and you can see his success rate drops...
