#Update Problems

Hey there! Jaibee here to save the day! Even though you need the update so it doesn't slow your phone down, you can turn automatic updates!
I believe....
And when the update comes through you can decline the update untill it forces you too.
well.. no, all 3 of those statements are wrong.
-
i looked in settings for everything under "Update" and the closest thing was turn auto update off, but all that does is make it so it doesn't automatically update on phone startup. i already have that off.
-
I cannot decline. I have a notification saying it will automatically update, in less than 24 hours.
-
I do not need the update. I don't care if my phone is slightly slower. I despise the ai features.
Fair enough. But there is a thing where it forces you to update after a certain amount of time
yes, you are right on that point. that is no help though.
oh
wait, you mean there's no way to avoid the update in any way shape or form??
wait, does turning the bottom one off stop automatic install?
if you know how to use adb, disable the packages that are for software updates
or even shizuku
i don't know how to use those, im even stuck on the first step, i have a newer windows.
is the android update going to be needed for the phone to function?
no. this works on any android version within samsung and windows. the instructions are from awhile ago but the info is still accurate enough
for this, youd need to go into about phone>software info>tap "build number" 7 times
once enabled, back up twice and find developer mode. turn on usb debugging and give your pc access
i see
if say i want a future update (like it has major security patches) i dont suppose i can install that without this current one?
thats my only other concern, like i dont see much to do with basic security levels here, but it does show a security patch level a month newer than what i have
ig im just curious how crucial that is to have / dangerous to not
youre an average person so youre not gonna be targetted as much. just dont click anything random or whatever
i used to regular a jailbroken iphone here and there and i had 0 new security patches. it didnt affect me in anyways because those exploited security patches were for me to jailbreak in the first place
i never got hacked
alright, also as this is an android update, not just a ui or home update, that means that all of the features aside from explicitly home screen features, will be there even if i use a different homeUI app? such as this feature
ngl idk what that "4 star icon" is in the first place
it means like
unless thats the galaxy ai button
you can use a different launcher if you hate how oneui 7 launcher is layed out
yeah, it adds stuff to this menu
no im just curious whether that kind of feature (like an ai summarize on the text option menu) would still exist in a different
home launcher
do you mean keyboard?
lemme go find my s24 and ill show you what that thing looks like
like this menu
this is what it looks like now
yeah, im curious if that star would still be present if i were using a different ui home launcher
btw i appreciate the help
yes if will
it's not gonna be removed with a different keyboard or a different home launcher
alright, im doing this but just wanna make sure i dont mess anything up
ive downloaded the setup file, so do i run that once connected to my phone? do i enable debug mode before that? do i have to worry about installing drivers? and im confused because steps 1 and 4 are both just connect phone to pc
enable usb debugging before or after, doesnt really matter but it needs to be enabled to use adb shell. drivers should be there because windows 10/11 is different from 7
alright and i run the setup exe while connected to phone?
you couldve ran it at any point lol
you couldve installed it at any point. you just needed to have that so you have adb installed
oh, so that is the command prompt
i am so lost... it doesn't work
is this the right setting? the phone is just charging from the pc
you did that with caps
once you do adb shell, you should see a thing on your phone asking for access if you enabled usb debugging. accept it
no you didnt. that "device unauthorized" tells me you didnt give it access when it asked
you do the pm whatever when you get into adb shell
my bad, i just had to type it again once id given permission
it works, thank you man, you are a life saver
one last question, do you know if this google play system update is something separate or the same as this android update? or the same
its a separate thing. thats why its separate from security updates. how long youll get updates depends on googles support for android 14 (so you got a while)
i see, i can't click either of them, im assuming that's intended so ill undo what i did, update that one, then redo it
wait does the greek checkmark mean it's already done? i undid what i did in the command prompt and i can now click the security update but still not the google play one
maybe? try to find the google play service updates in the about phone>software information thing and tap on it
i never check my system updates for google using samsungs thing
it says jan 1st, so no
im guessing the update is tied to the android update then
yeah idk how or what happened to your phone to do that
play store itself is up to date
wrong. im stuck on feb 2025 on an april update
my guess is that this specific one is tied to android update maybe? because the green checkmark + the fact i cant click the update seems to imply it just needs the ui security update first, idk
doubt it
then whats the green checkmark even mean 😭
my bad, i realized it means it's downloaded and needs a restart to install
now does it open?
any ideas? or do i just not update it and leave it at that?
oh or should i turn off the adb, then restart the phone so itll update the google play? or would that update android too..
turn off dev mode if it interferes with normal stuff. id risk updating your phone but you killed the process so it shouldnt update the entire phone
im talking like bank or fortnite or whatever
oh- ive had dev mode on for a very long time, i turned it off and restarted the phone and it still didnt update the google play
does restarting your phone in general install android updates?
ok, bet
unrelated but if i disable and then reenable developer mode, are the settings id changed saved?
i was confused on adb stuff 😭
alright, i turned that off and dev settings off and restarted the phone, but google play did not update
how do i even install it?
