#Galaxy 6 Watch and Text Messages-Watch Face Not Lighting Up and Sound/Vibrate Not Occuring.

I have called Samsung many times over this issue. My Galaxy 6 watch does not light up and tell me when I received a text notification. It does not say who it's from or what it says. I only get the orange dot telling me I have a notification. I can view text messages, respond, write a text message and send it from my watch. My watch lights up and tells me who's calling. I get notifications from all the other apps. But it does not do it for text messages. I just took it into an Asurion store and they thought it might be related to my Bluetooth. Under my Bluetooth setting under my watch it says connected for calls. That is why they think it's a Bluetooth issue and it's not set up for text messages. However, my boyfriend's Bluetooth says the same thing for his watch and he is able to view text messages and they pop up on his watch. And if it's a Bluetooth issue, I don't think I would be able to read my texts on my watch. It isn't like I'm not getting them. It's just the watch face doesn't light up and the watch does not vibrate or make a sound. I've already returned one watch and exchanged it for another and it is still doing the same thing. I even had somebody at Geek Squad at Best Buy look at it. All of the settings are on. I was told by Asurion that it might be a motherboard issue and I may need to send back my brand new Samsung s23 Ultra.

Has anyone else had something happen similar to this? And if so, could you please give me any suggestions. Unless there's a setting deeply hidden somewhere, all the settings are turned on correctly.

I have factory reset my watch a couple times, I have deleted the Bluetooth and reset it, I've restarted both the watch and my phone.

My next step is connecting my watch to my boyfriend's phone and connecting his watch to my phone to try and narrow it down. But that can't happen for a few more days, so I'm just trying to see what I can do in the meantime. I do not want to send my phone in for repair.

Thank you for any suggestions!

Hello @drifting shuttle ! Thanks for reaching out. I’d like to let you know that I’m not an official Samsung support representative. I’m a community support member and I don’t represent Samsung.

Sorry to hear about your experience with your Galaxy Watch 6.
Do you have Wrist Detection Turned On?

Thank you for responding! Samsung wasn't able to help me, so any help is appreciated. I would assume it's on because if I take off my watch, I need to enter my pin code for it to work again.

I just noticed yesterday that FB messenger isn't working either. I didn't even get the orange notification dot for that one. But all other notifications work.

No, it isn't fixed.

I do not know when I get a text. I only get an orange dot. There's no sound, no vibration, watch face doesn't light up. I can read the text message on my watch after I open up the watch. I can respond to a text and write a new text. Unless I'm looking at my phone, I have no clue I received a text. My watch will light up and vibrate for phone calls.

Just hooked up my watch to my boyfriend's phone and it worked perfectly. What is wrong with my phone that it won't work?

I will be trying to factory reset my phone before sending it in. I'll also be calling Samsung back to update them. I hope they have another suggestion other than sending it in for repair. I do not have a back up phone. I need to figure out exactly how to back everything up on it first. I can't lose my pictures and definitely certain threads of texts. I've reset the watch multiple times, in case that is what you were referring to.

Or a Desktop PC?

I have a laptop. Seems to be running very slow so not sure how much I can put on it. It isn't even that old.

Phone settings> General > Reset and check which backup option suits you

Oh, great! So it'll tell me a couple options of how to back it up? That would be helpful.

You have 2 Option.

  • Backup to a PC
  • Make a temporary backup on the Cloud.

I will look into those. Thank you so much for your help! I really appreciate it. I really hope the factory reset works. This is a lot of work just to get my watch to tell me I received a text. Oh well. Thank you!
