The point is that the beginning portion of the story is a formative part of the game, Chixia is a beginner character that will join the team. At this formative portion of the story, the a starter character doing something as alienating as pointing a gun at someone who saved them is a recipe for making the players hate them. Following this event, Baizhi also treats you with heavy suspicion. This type of impression is extremely hard to lose once established and alienates an entire group of audience, especially given the current CN audience.

Why this all blew up is a long ass story, but the main takeaways were this:

• Mica didn't address the drama for months, and by the time they did, it was too late. GFL2 became known as "the NTR game", content creators refused to cover it to avoid drama, and it was impossible to scrub it away.
• The root cause for them getting the label was due to their negligent treatment of the MC with regards to the story. They didn't pay attention to how their core audience saw the MC as a stand-in for the player and not just some character they can sideline because they don't have a face.
• Snowbreak later demonstrated that the correct way to address this is to reply to any allegations swiftly and immediately, e.g. by hosting an emergency livestream/blog post and directly addressing the points, they could actually ride the ML wave instead.
