What on earth....
sushi soup and sushi pizza
just some of the culinary atrocities my country has come up with
Whats this?
Why would you microwave mochi
that's why he said not to do it
What the fuck, no
What is this
Then alfredo?
No name
We made that one up to be honest
I got a gamer meal too I guess
I'm only human, I'm allowed to be lazy
Donut holder
just plain rice? 🗿
pickled iron
fucking cursed
Thought you would like the cigarette fries
hell nah
Borgar
doesnt look fucked up
also
There was no onion powder in the big stores
so I decided to buy one in amazon
We don't have that here either
Diabetes
what the f-
Apple solo carrying thread
I prefer mine epic
Everyone must enjoy this modern rice
Ayo wtf
Carbs on carbs
man wtf
thats a blue rare heinz steak
fr
Horrible
Welp, my dish

recipe?
300gr roast beef, seasoning and sear 1min each side, then wrap alumi foil and put to pre-heated oven 160 C for 15mins. Let them rest about 10mins and serve
I’ll try that recipe out
Looks nice
whats that soup?
Cabbage roll with meat inside, soup with green onion and coriander
Tasty
borgir
borger
Borgar
Bootleg some at home?
Buy some premade stock, enrichen it with some extra stuff. Make the eggs which are the easiest bit
Noodles should be not that hard to find
For the meat, you can use some belly cuts
@craggy bough
You can make noodles at home too
I know it might seem a bit daunting, but the theory is fairly simple
You need flour, egg, salt, a solid flat surface to knead dough on, a bowl, and a knife
Oh, rolling pin too, bottle of win does work though
You can slice the noodles thinly than stretch it right?
Yeah
Mom wanted a risotto.
I had chicken thighs that needed cooking.
So I pan fried some colour into the thighs in my tall cast iron, then added water and veggies.
Then shredded the meat.
So now dinner is chimkin risotto.
What type of rice do you use for risotto @sand epoch?
Risotto rice
Risotto is shortgrain rice so I guess that can help
This one specifically
At least for that one
Normally it's..
I did find cheap risotto rice at our local low priced supermarket
that costed around 300-400 yen
imported items are expensive
Yeah
so 300 yen for that isnt a bad offer
Yeah
I havent cooked risotto before
but I’ve seen videos of it
my japanese coworkers were suprised about my chicken shawarma meal
tbf, they dont use a lot of spices
I'm not surprised
I mean.. Japan is known for it's "furikake gohan"
Rice with seasoning...
I'll be right back with something
When they asked if I brought a bento box with me, their first thought was onigiri
That looks good
You minced a bit of onion, sautée it, carrot bits, some cabbage
Garlic too
And then you throw in the rice and water
This shit is a fucking banger with fish
And yes, it looks soggy but that's on purpose. You slightly undercook the rice on the stove so the heat carries on, the water acts as a stock almost.
would the rice get soggy with that much liquid or not?
ah
Well if you need recipes, hit me up
Some ingredients might be difficult to find at times but should definitely be available
These are all old school cookbooks, and not just that
But there's notebooks there too, with the kind of self made recipes and stuff made by grandma and great-grandma
Old school cookbooks meaning great recipes
Yep
made with fresh ingredients
That big one is like
Older than me
Let me double check the date
Yeah it's 26 years old, one less than me
Portuguese cuisine is very much potato and rice based
We got some pasta recipes too
Costco is near our place at the philippines
they call it S&R
but its the same as costco
membership fee is cheaper
and beside that, theres a butcher and cheese shop
ingredients are pretty accessible
Oh nice! That's wonderful.
Its a dead man’s bomb
cooking with a gas stove would be much better
but the company decided to give me an electric stove
Good looking
pasghetti and meatballs
lgbt burgers?
it was a sarcastic statement tho
But I’ve seen a lot of colored bread
Oh
not that common here in japan
philippines
heard they sell colored bread
pastry isnt the best there
loaf breads tend to be sweet
Nice
Gardenia black forest bread is the best Gardenia bread
what did you do with the corn?
I put it in the pan
Oh wait, I bought a hole ass corn, not canned corn then I tried to cut the outside, but it went alright
I’d probably use canned corn
since corn here is expensive af
lots of items are imported anyway
What I bought had like 2 1/2 corns in a package and it was 1,79€
Hope the chicken ain't dry
If it is, I'll probably unalive
Is it blasphemy if I put ketchup on pizza?
dont worry about other people’s opinions and enjoy
no ones stopping you from putting ketchup on pizza
American breakfast friendly
Looks good
Bland rice tho
This what a Steak under 1€ that expired 2 days ago look like
Leftovers
ok
You call that bland? Rice is supposed to not have my seasoning
no shit, I just thought steak with "special" rice would be more enjoyable
Depends
With my steak, plain white rice was pretty good
If I had the chance to buy a better, taller steak, I'd probably use proper aromatics, like garlic and rosemary while I'm basting it
And use a proper amount of butter, too
In that scenario, I'd actually like a rice that's been seasoned with something citrus-y or tangy to cut through the fattiness of the steak
Boiled/Steamed vegetables work really well too
plain rice tastes good tho
Ok, I've never tried it myself before
In other countries, it might have a weird taste
but theres something about japanese rice that makes it taste good by itself
Oh ok, I only have the ordinary rice
We eat noodles on rice
carbs on carbs
Hell yea börther
Basmati is too fragile imo
Elaborate
Too soft to scoop up with spoon, takes 30 minutes to soak the grains before cooking, not suitable for fried rice
what?
I just wash rice and put it on a rice cooker
I dont take the extra effort to try and cook rice on a normal pot
Is that okay?
Been taught to wash rice whenever you cook rice
plus it’ll leave any residue in it and gelatinized the rice
But I heard that if youre cooking with unwashed rice, you’ll need to use a bit more water to cook it
I wouldnt force myself to cook unwashed rice
I like to see clear water
I mean
Over here we do 1 part rice, 2 parts water
Boiling water, salt it a bit
Rice in, stir a little.
5 minutes, stir a little.
5 minutes. Should be done.
That's for basic white rice, I like to season with onion and stuff.
I tried washing recently, see if it made any difference
After 5 minutes I was still washing it
So I just said fuck it
5 minutes?
it doesnt even take more than a minute
Yeah, no. I kept mixing with my fingers
That's because basmati is long grained
Texas, ofc everything is big in Texas
are those mozarella sticks?
Fish fingers
It was
It was fish fingers, French fries, and the balls are leftover noisette potatoes from the night before
One garlic sauce dip, the other is honey mustard
Not really, but I guess? I have been trying to gain weight again lately.
why is that? Too underweight?
Kinda yeah
Mostly aesthetic reasons
See if I can put on some fat on my thighs and ass
Even out my mostly masculine shape
Besides, boys like girls with a bit of belly, right?

My tits won't grow without fat either
Dumplings?
yes, vietnamse dumplings to be precise
What's the filling?
groundbeef, glass noodle, ear mushroom and sliced cooked egg
Glass noodle and ear mushroom I have no idea what they are
ear mushroom
noodle
or I say transparent noodle

That's uh, rice noodle?
Vermicelli I think it's called in other countries
Seems not
no idea
What's this
looks really crowded and small for a bun bo
Gym rat lunch! Gym rat lunch!
typical gym meal
I unironically love it
how does that even fit in my mouth
Is that pho?
ok, I get you, pho noodles are more thin and wide, as for bun you can see it on the image
Flat you mean
thats not bun cha, thats pho
idk, google image
I agree
I mean, for me I like all of it
but pho where ever you go, it always taste the same
lol
I always only eat pho from my mom
cause I live in Germany and the place where I live does have a vietnamese restaurants, but some are below average and the price is crap
small town huh, do you have asian or warehouse stores to buy the specific ingredients for it?
in general
bruh
I've never done that before
ooooh
so, you're pretty much alone
in a small town
to study
thats such a typical path choice in asia, or in general
I will be visiting Vietnam this August after 5 years
ah ok
this is the best oppotunity for me to improve my vietnamese
even my parents laughed at me for my poor vietnamese, but not in a bad way
yes, my vocabulary is very bad
but for a person like me, who was born in europe, my vietnamese is decent enough
I know some friends, that talk german and vietnamese at the same time to their parents
yeah, kind of
luckily, my mom taught me how to read vietnamese and the alphabet
cause my mom used to be a substitute teacher for 1st grade kids
better than at a restaurant
Nope!
It's soup
Onion, potato, garlic. Boil. Blend. Thorw in the thinly sliced cabbage. Boil. Add slices of chorizo and a bit more olive oil.
Today's dinner: takoyaki with some squid
the sauce looks like, expired Can beans sauce from the UK
Borgir
looks kinda like an abomination?
mentos
used cotton buds
Poor man being judged from every direction
does tesco even exist in thailand?
Wouldn't know
your meals are getting more questionable
Why?
I mean, I see less than more on your plate
Oh
Well, this was just for the photo though
The pot was on the table
I helped myself like 3 times, you're eating more bread than anything really
Was! It's pretty simple to make too
1.5kg of vietnamese clams of the white variety
2 large onions thinly slice, olive oil, garlic, salt, pepper.
Sautée the onions in a large pot until translucid, add some cooking wine (white), like... 100mL is more than enough I think
Then the clams go in, you put the lid on it and just let it go for like 10 minutes on low heat
Good
If they're frozen clams, 20m should be good
Enjoy with bread
yes
here
@sand epoch, I tried cooking basmati rice unwashed and without a rice cooker for a mexican rice dish

and I noticed that basmati isnt that dirty comparing to large amounts of rice in sacks
I’ve seen my aunt cooked biryani
Biryani is.. Quite wild
ofc I didnt drain the rice
yea
no
I was being careful with the measurements
Maybe after a few tries, I can just wing it
Nice
I took the washing rice mindset out and took my time to learn different rices
How's that going then?
no, its just normal garlic bread
I tried to make this https://youtu.be/C4X4NdlBY5o
This feels like a homemade chicken parm but better.

Cause I like chicken
Very nice
Yeah
you really like drinking red wine
Only had it a few times but it goes really well with certain things.
Like this is legit just my second bottle
lol
so far, I see barely any vegetables
but its deep fried
shhhhhhut your mouth

Ramen?
yes

it does more spicy than usual (coz I ordered with spicy miso paste) but taste extremely good in this cold weather
Noice
The Steak doesn't look that appealing

It's got colour to it, and was perfect medium rare
When it's that thin, you don't have much room to work with it
Yeah, only possible with either really hot fire, or a thick steak
Food
Food
I like food
when I make food
Tofu with?
rice + mapo tofu
it tastes very good
the only problem is
my stomach gonna burn
Just drink heavy cream straight up
Thats normally the texture I get when cooking mapo tofu
but the spice is mixed with it
Looks good @brave zealot
Cant handle mapo tofu by itself without some rice
feels wasted when you eat it alone
yeah I also need rice at least for mapo tofu
coz its too spicy to be eaten alone

I regret eating at coco’s
their curry is just similar to home cooking
but marketed
in japan?
yea
yeah curry rice I sometimes does ate in the outside at restaurant but most of the time I just made it myself
I didnt go to coco’s because of the price
and when I decided to go in it
I regretted it

their ice milk tastes like powdered milk you buy from the store with sugar and ice cubes
and their curry tasted exactly of how I made it
although I dont eat curry a lot
cant find good beef cuts in japan
yea sometimes some store does use the usual curry roux that is used in many home cooked curry
only a few uses their own recipe I guess
I think from all the curry I ate in the outside, only several of them seems like using their own recipe coz I never taste similar taste anywhere
Idk where to find good curry
I just made it myself most of the time
they dont serve a lot of veggies and protein so
I grill chicken first instead of pan frying it instantly
usually it fits my taste better
outside curry most of the time is not that spicy
I like my curry to have stronger taste and spicier
gives it a different kind of flavor
also
tortillas are overpriced
they cost 759 for 10 pieces
its just corn flour and water
then toasted
I tried making one yesterday
it turned into chapati instead
damn
just follow a recipe instead of winging it first
next time I guess
I need to finish all those chapati I made in a whim
its recommended for all pastry recipes
good thing I still have curry ingredients ready to cook
so I can ate those chapatis with curry

only the beef is minced
before I have good cuts of diced beef for curry but alas
it all disappears within 4 days
even guac is overpriced
Im hesitant on buying beef
I stick to chicken
the cheapest protein money can buy in this country
kidney beans count aswell
beef here is, at least compared to my home country, is way cheaper that's why I sometimes buys beef
but not always diced one, I mostly use minced beef
most of the beef in japan is imported so
coz I treated the curry as kind of "sauce" sometimes so I can combine it with other things like chicken cutlet, etc
quite hard to breed cows
🤝
gotta have a dipping sauce for toast or naan
yeah
but most of the time
just good ol plain rice would suffice
and I like minced beef anyway
Im still not used to cooking rice unwashed
like the ones from air sealed containers
actually I always washed it
that have basmati rice
I tried it for one recipe
it becomes a habit at this point
yeah that explains
here beef is one of main commodity so it is not as expensive
but in contrast
seafood can be way more expensive than beef
esp prawns

its a lose-lose for both sides of poultry
the only cheap seafood is basa fillet so fuck it I just use that if I want fish
The big 3 seasoning liquids with honey for minced beef is my go to
dark and light soy sauce, then oyster sauce
prolly the only thing I rarely buy is lamb
pork I occasionally buy but mostly minced for meatballs
chicken if I dont want beef and just wants a cheaper food (aka last 2 weeks of the month) coz no matter how cheap the beef here chicken is cheaper anyway
chicken is my go to
minced beef usually I just make it into
curry, meatball, or hamburg steaks
chicken I just like the
good plain ol chicken skewers grilled with just oil and salt in oven
well sometimes I do use my own yakitori sauce to make yakitori
char siu chicken
my sister is a chef so she wants apartment with an oven that's why
one of my favorite chicken recipes
so she also can "experiments" so to speak
I would get one aswell
but not in japan
I would also include an air fryer
its a must for me
used to have air fryer
but sadly it broke 2 years ago
we do get a mini deep fryer that I usually use
but would be great if I got the air fryer again
30k yen apartments are soo bad tho
the space is equivalent to one bedroom
almost I think
oh yeah
I once visited my little sister apartment in japan
it is really small
can be quite bad sometimes
you gotta make use of every corner to make space
but being a minimalistic person helps
helped me earn money from living a small apartment
it does yeah
I am usually fine with either small or big room
the dealbreaker is just how crowded the place is
I dont like crowded place/city that much
the first second you wake up, you can go to the comfort room in 3 steps
then an extra 3 steps to the bathroom
also if the room have good/decent sound insulations
I tend to do vc and play coop with my friends before I go to bed
so the sounds sometimes can be a bit..........loud
this room wouldnt even fit a gaming setup
thats why its bad
and japan is famous for their paper thin walls
oh yeah
my little sister said before she can hear "strange voices" from her neighbouring room
ojijan talking to himself of what he’s doing
they usually speak out their thoughts

anyway gotta clean the dishes
alright
I boiled and then sautéed mushrooms, reserved. Sautéed bacon, then thinly sliced leek in pig lard. Added the mushrooms back in. Heavy cream, paprika, salt, pepper, oregano, mix, serve!

that's...brutal
Chopping onyon for spaghett....
thats one beautiful butcher knife
Indeed it is
Now that I think of it
That's why I avoid using it for veggies
I havent seen a butcher knife in japan
But I don't have a spare knife for greens
le shallots touching ze marble flooring
That's a marble table XD
I miss making carbonara tbh
With the cream 😎😳
gotta hide that from the italians 😳
Got the cream and the H A M
ngl but
filipino carbonara > italian carbonara
🏃♂️

Italians can insult the dish
but we dont got the budget for an expensive cut like guanciale or pecorino romano
Since when do we take them seriously when it comes to food
YOU PUT CREAM IN CARBONARA AND I'M COMING FOR YOU
You don't need guanciallo
You can use "normal bacon" and lard
I dont do that here
but my parents would probably do
The taste is good
but it wouldnt be called carbonara at that point
just another form of pasta you could say
Correct
I do pasta with heavy creams a lot
But it's not carbonara
It's just pasta
If I would ask if its carbonara
Uncultured swines
they’d consider it dessert
Hey dont blame they

not a lot are well versed in italian cuisine yet
their italian dictionary is
spaghetti = most pastas
macaroni = dessert
Idk about you, but I like to know the names of the things I'm doing, make sure I'm doing it properly, no matter what it is.
Not just food mind you
Nice nice
personal recipes that satisfy me
People say I'm an uncultured swine for my taste in food
Then some people find overly fermented cheese, to the point where it's almost chemically unstable, cuisine
Meanwhile some of the food I like has nikke physics
smash burger?
Yep, double patty
I streamed it
My voice isn't sounding too great but oh well
Need to work on it to more
Made mozzarela bites, onion rings and borgar

Yeah
First time trying out phone streaming
Feels weird listening to myself on a different mic for a change
Hmmm love those
Even better when you open the box and it has cookies inside and not random sewing stuff from grandma

Mind you there's some cuts in the video because idk, my phone, my connection, twitch itself shat the bed
Been doing them on Saturdays
Aight cool cool

its cold at this month in my city so ramen/noodle soup is usually my go to
aside from curry and soups that is
Its hot for me
its currently around 35C
I wanna have my cold showers during winter 😔
Oh goodness what's this?
It looks so different!
wonton noodle soup
well lets say it is a pretty basic noodle soup with some wontons
although the portion is pretty big
yeah its between 9-15 degree here
for most europeans this would be okay but for me this is chilling
europeans have the privilege to have cold weathers despite being the season of summer
That's legit just 1 country mate
Right now Europe is having temperatures of +30C
And Portugal just chilling with like 22C
no wonder rimuru says he is melted
25 isnt that bad
35 is where pain comes
32 below is average since I’ve gotten used to that heat in my home country
I dont have the same tolerance as before since I’ve taken cold showers during winter
I sweat profusely at 30+
last time I had 45C combined with heat wave
I have severe headache
Lo and behold, mu ultimate night snack
Nuts and cream, bit sussy
looks good man
Whats that stir fry you made @sand epoch
Not quite a stir fry. It's bacon, leek and mushroom. Then I add heavy cream, seasoning, and stir it through a small pasta.
It's milk and boiled nuts
...
does it have one of those soggy nuts?
Yes
airplane food
That looks pretty good for airplane food wtf
Im excited to try out airplane food after 2 years of not having it
If the mods smack me, so be it

COOKIES

Minced a large onion into a cast iron pot, good amount of oil to let it gain some colour, minced 3 garlic gloves, in. Once the colour was a golden brown, in with 300g of minced meat.
Let the meat sweat and brown, get as many of the juices out.
Add in the tomato sauce. I used fried tomato sauce, 560g.
Secret ingredient:
1~2 squares of >70% dark chocolate
Bay leaf, MSG, Salt, Pepper, Paprika, Cayenne.
Add in the beans.
Correct water if needed, you kinda want it soupy to let it reduce down on its down.
is that chili?
I was about to get soto ayam myself but I am too lazy to go, it's scorching outside
Yes!
I also use dark chocolate whenever I cook chili
It's really good

Its name: the No-fruit
The no-fruit is a two-leaf tofu-like fruit that has no flavor, similar to Splendamin.
Once one of the two leaves is plucked, it'll transform to a variety of fruits. Similar to Splendamin.
Once you pick your desire fruit, smack it with a blunt object to reveal your desired fruit
