also maybe 'if the game downloads new files with mods enabled that means the mods are out of date / need repacking'

and while it's true that game update means mods need repacking, the way NMM works is you mostly don't need to repack most of the time coz NMM detects the new file and uses the mod file for that instead. repacking is needed prolly when the new file has something different beside just a name change. this last bit is just my assumption but fact is most mods dun need to repack every update

I think if you can decrypt the catalog and see what's inside, you can do it locally, still based on Dani's solution though.

The reason why NMM doesn’t work after each maintenance is because it operates based on files that are changed once maintenance is completed. Currently, NMM only functions server-side. Its source code will not be made public to prevent it from being patched or reversed by Shift Up. Na0h holds the source code, and he may create a client-side version for himself only. Creating a client-side version of NMM comes with many risks.
Additionally, the time zone difference significantly affects Daniel’s ability to update NMM promptly. I think everyone should be patient and wait after each maintenance.
As for making NMM work with the Chinese version, I personally believe it should NOT be done because it could directly lead to legal issues (Genshin recently had an incident where a person was arrested for creating a cheat that removed map objects for Kaveh – we definitely don’t want something like that to happen).

Naoh was kind enough to send me Noir's new skins skel file compatible with latest spine (spine trial always runs on the latest so I can't really import them otherwise), but I still can't export it as a json. So yeah, if anyone is okay with it I'd be grateful. I can import json into DragonBones for example
It's practically the same software yes but it always runs on the latest version, which is 4.3.35 but you can't import Nikke stuff because they use 4.1.20. If you have a license though this isn't a problem because Spine allows you to switch between versions. So in short, if you don't have the files compatible with latest version, you can't really work on them. Plus trial version got restrictions for exporting data, you should check their website for details though

Yeah like that. I used DragonBones Pro before for some other 2D stuff, I'm not sure how helpful would it be for Nikke modding but you can give it a try. But like I said, you need skel files as jsons first, DB Pro won't load spine skels
I honestly thought someone smarter than me would already find a way and make a tool (for skel to json) but I guess most people already have Spine and it doesn't really matter now
it's crazy how this software hasn't cracked yet, I mean not even cracked but just workaround to fool software in thinking that it's legit. Just have to clone the environment of the pro software, with licence, machine guid, registry and done

also this is how they worked with older versions manually before with UABEA:

Click on the .skel TextAsset -> Remove

File->Add, set Path ID to what you recorded in step 0, set Type name to TextAsset, check Fill Asset with 00s. An "unnamed asset" will be created in UABEA

Click on the unnamed asset -> Export Dump. A txt file will be created in the directory you chose, now open that up in notepad.

Within the quotes in m_Name, type the name from step 0, but put .json, then save the file

Click on the unnamed asset -> Import Dump, then import the .txt file from step 4

Converted skel files can be opened on some other software as well, i.e. DragonBones Pro or maybe Spriter. Most 2D apps support json skeletons. Mostly skel files are encrypted though so if you can't decrypt/convert them the best option is just to go with Spine but it's expensive

i finally have some time to attempt learning mods again. i am at this point where i found the character files in {%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\Unity\com_proximabeta_NIKKE\aeb001dfac41dab1192aeo074efc3e21} but when i try to extract a file NAU to get the bundle it says this. and when i try and load it into Asset Studio GUI there is no unity bundle found and it doesnt work. I got the key file from uploading the settings.json and put it in the NAU keys replacing any duplicate files. Any ideas on where i am going wrong?

so it looks like the problem is in the NAU step since it is not recognizing the file as a NKAB bundle it is encrypting instead of decrypting the file. It seems like an easy enough step but obviously I'm missing something.

_enc.bundle is encrypted and can't be loaded by AS. just try to load the default file
I got it to decrypt by renaming the files. ex e2eff365a6c909abf3e269e3a58e0f5a to e2eff365a6c909abf3e269e3a58e0f5a.bundle in case this helps anyone else. it then decrypted properly in NAU.

yeah it will, I tried using the export json that you provided, modified it too. The spine reads for the content but does not take action on it. All code is written in Java so It definitely is state based.
You can try if you want using process manager tool to check if it checks anything after reading the file before starting the write process of new skel file

i got the process to replace textures to work. thanks for the help getting to this point. It looks pretty bad but its a start. I need to work out a better process to make the individual textures match better. Some questions i still have. When removing an object do you make the texture piece fully transparent/opaque to remove it? And for like nipples that seem to have a 3D element is this all in drawing/texturing or is something added.

NMM doesn't need to identify icon mod for each character. it just needs to be able to put the modded file in place of the original file. the game somehow recognizes which icon belongs to which character. I assume that is written in the others files beside the texture 2D file we modify

Some authors will encrypt themselves, nau is not suitable

you need to apply the physics file with NMM
the physics fix generator only generates the list, the physics fixer generates the file and NMM is what applies the changes

i was trying to decode the Brid assets and encountered the same error where it would not recoginze the file as an NKAB bundle. this file would not work with the adding .bundle workaround. Now i am unable to get NAU to run and get this error. I have the dependency file in the folder so idk what is going on? Any ideas on what is happening

NAU can decrypt and encrypt, if you drop a decrypted file back to NAU you're encrypting it

it doesnt seem to already be decrypted as i cant open it in asset studio as is. comparatively when i got the Marciana file to work using the .bundle extension it did this. it then would open in the asset studio.
if you're using NAU manually then it's better to put the files you want to decrypt in one folder and drag and drop that folder onto NAU exe, that way you will get your files decrypted with no .bundle extension or _dec renaming

are you sure the files you're getting from your aeb folder are the raw ones? those are encrypted so when you drop the raw ones on NAU the message should be decrypting instead
also why you have the files in "ExtractedAssets"? are you using my repacker? 
idk about raw i copied all the files from that folder. I named a folder "extracted assets" in the modding parent folder when i was following the nikke-modding-wiki video guide

I'm trying to apply a mod to the iOS skin file right now by unpacking it at random lol.I'm renaming and replacing the mods from the pc version that correspond to the iOS skin file I happened to find, but it didn't work. do you think it would work if I repack it with the skin data from the iOS app?
game will always detect when the game files are modified and it will overwrite them with the raw ones, only way to bypass that is using NMM so PC modding is the only working platform

When you "unpack" the texture it'll give you all the parts as separate files, breast.png, hand.png for example. You put all of them in a folder and spine will combine them all in the model
