you need to check the eb folder not the unity
the folder is encrypted so you need to use NAU before using assetstudio/ripper. link is pinned

depends, if assetbundles only contain simple types (such as images, audio), no classes or otherwise monobehaviours, one could basicly build a assetbundle entirely with unity editor. But I would go through that trouble just for audio

kind of a dumb question to ask but I'm trying to rip assets from another game for personal use. I admit to have no advanced knowledge of fiddling with assets but I just need help and I dunno where to ask besides here
I just figured it follows the same system as nikke cuz it's also a unity-based game but it probably behaves differently since I couldn't open some of the files

The only thing that is gonna be the same are the tools u need, mainly asset studio and spineviewer/cubismviewer
And 80% chances are that the files are encrypted
So first u need to find a way to decrypt them into unity bundles

It's just assetstudio's texture2d decoder
On the topic of decrypting. Where do they usually start looking for the decryption key? It's usually scattered somewhere in the game right?

If u open the file in a hexeditor
And delete those bytes
It becomes a bundle
But usually the process is to decompile the machine code into regular uncompiled unity code
And then find the function that decrypts the bundles
And emulate that

Also the game is BrownDust 2. Surprisingly enough the assets aren't encrypted but for some reason Perfare and NKAB assetstudio can't decode the texture2d and it just gives this warning or a distorted png
I looked for a recently maintained fork and it somehow worked

but when I extract it, it looks like a lot of parts tho

I mean to convert Texture2D to PNG with the body parts joined 
Texture2D is just an image in Unity's language
So they can be anything - diffuse, normal, ambient occlusion map, ramp map, spine texture etc
well thats different since its the body parts, youll need to extract the skel and atlas file for whoever you got the Texture2d from. Which should have the same ID in the name. And put it in a Spineviewer to then save it as an image.

Its probably just easier to upscale the png and then use that inplace of the lower quality one. Probably keep you from having to change up the skeleton and atlas file

well looks like its becaudse you dont have spineboy.json. Does that mean you need to install Spine first 
nvm, the problem was indeed related to Java or some missing component I just get after to download and install some stuff from azul.com like the Skeleton site recommends

you exported dolla dark rose png ( c202_01) but regular dolla atlas and skel (c202_00)
atlas awaits for c202_00 png not c202_01

nono, the white borders appeared just after I made some redraw in PS and then switched back to paint.net to erase other parts

Yeah, which means that if they have another mod with physics fix installed your mod will overwrite it and break that one's physics 
well, I just ask for their physics files when I do skin swaps like when I ask for Android files when I repack PC mods to Android
that way I just edit their own physic file to not break their mods
its just 1 file, there arent multiple physics files for each Nikke

its gotta do with some alpha layer i think is what its called that Paint.net can easily remove with the parts. Photoshop i think can do it too but dont know or remember if someone has done it.

as I mentioned above, that shading isnt present in the non-swap variant of the skin, although I use the same 2 images for both mods... very weird
redrawing on software like Paint Tool SAI and then to switch to paint.net to keep erasing after to redraw still mess the textures like with PS?
why dont you just use paint net
