"Summoning" functions broken

I've seen a few threads asking about this problem, but none of them have gone anywhere. Whenever I use a summoning function, "/function fromthefog:admin/sightings/lurking with entity (player)" the command executes, but it always uses me as the target instead of the targetted player. Any known fix to this?

unfortunately it is not possible to trigger it for specific players

Quick update to anyone who finds this in the future, I did find an unconventional way to do this. By using the "execute as" command you can trigger sightings on other players. Below is an example of a working command, with Flabblegast as me, and Flabblegast1335 as the player I want to trigger a sighting on.

/execute as Flabblegast1335 run function fromthefog:admin/sightings/stalking with entity Flabblegast

the only thing is for each player, the first time you do this it will display the tutorial statement in chat, which could potentially tip them off

What version are you on? I'm using 1.20.6, that might be it
