#I'm in a heated debate right now.

Depends on the use case
For optimization, fabric
For intense mods like thaumcraft, forge
I suppose just general use, like ofc we want the most FPS possible but we're both on rather mid-end systems
But forge is definitely dying, so neoforge
Most fps would be fabric with sodium
are forge and neoforge cross-compatible like fabric and quilt are?
Uhm, they used to be but the owner of forge was insanely toxic to the devs, so I think they removed it
oh right okay
Neoforge being ex-forge deva
so now mods have to be developed specifically for neoforge
That's more of a Bret question than a me question
for sure
I tend to only use fabric or forge modpacka
gotchu
if I'm using fabric, and he's using forge, can we still play together using essential.gg
No not that I'm aware of, they are completely different and the mods that translate fabric to forge are in beta and insanely hit or miss
You can't translate forge to fabric though, not at all
even if they're client side?
Client side is whatever
cool gotchu
It doesn't mate a difference
Fucking phone
Client side is just that, on your client
You can join vanilla servers with client side mods
I still stick with this, opti fine won't do shit
At most it leveled out my frames a bit
@gusty ibex from a devs perspective, which is better?
Fabrico
did you read the question? can you sum up the pros and cons of both?
Well in terms of forge and fabirc as a whole there is hardly any difference. Truly, just a different syntax for programming the mods.
The only real way to compare then would be to compare the mods they have.
For example, if you are a oldy mc player then you’ll like forge more as it has the classic 1.12 mods.
If you want performance, then fabric.
It has sodium, and iris.
While forge has ports of them, they are extremely buggy and hardly compatible with anything.
Could say “oh it has optifine.”
But optifine is utterly useless since 1.15
It doesn’t help performance at all.
The resource pack features are nice but the mod itself doesn’t “opti”mize anything anymore
So I use fabric as I like having performance mods for the latest versions.
So honestly from a developer standpoint, fabric and Forge are nearly the same
From a user standpoint, depends on what you’re doing
Fabric is better for performance
Forge is better for old mods and MC creator mods
But MC creator, sucks, anyway
So there you go
What's MC Creator?
It's like scratch but for mods
Great for beginners imo, but never used it myself
Apparently an actual bitch to bug fix
Exactly like scratch then
