I think for versatility sake it could be just "helmet with visor" and it has different styling options like other existing cosmetic things. For example, motorcycle helmets would fall into this category, Samus, Antman, some Starwars characters.
As a compromise, the idea of adding visors and helmets seperately, and having Helmets take priority on the "hat" layer of the skin (replacing all pixels that would be used), and allowing visors to be used alongside it. (I assume all hats prioritize pixel usage this way already and hope it wouldn't be too inconvenient). Having the possibility of different helmets and different visors allows for a lot more self expression and variety in skins, not to mention that visors and helmets can be worn independently as well.
I think expanding the idea to be more general would make it more likely to be implemented.

Everytime I look at a suggestion for a moment without fail I think people are asking for whatever to be in FTF and I thought thats what this suggestion was, I had to do a double take.. XD

Although, would be kinda nerve racking seeing Doom Slayer or Master Chief patiently waiting, watching you from a distance.. XD
