I think it would be fun if herobrine would randomly hit you while your back is turned. I bet it would cause players to be more panicked because they wont know who attacked them (in the moment)!

Just to add on, additionally have it play the running sound before the hit. Sometimes you'll hear the run and it'll be nothing, others you'll actually be attacked and panic even more
The original idea of immediately being put in a defensive situation is still fantastic though, so I suggest doing both to spice things up

Yeah maybe he can hit the player but if they're around any lava or such maybe this event won't be triggered because someone could honestly lose all of their progress
