I think it would be a good idea if sometimes, when you followed a treasure map, instead of leading to a reward chest, it led you to a partial Herobrine shrine. Always the mossy cobble and a couple of gold blocks, but never all of them. If the right blocks are there, they'll have redstone torches on them, and sometimes there will be a block of netherack too.

For OG players, this would be a bit of an "Oh shi-" moment, while for people less familiar with the original legend, it will give a way to figure out the shrine mechanic without having to look up spoilers, similar to how ruined portals telegraph how to access the Nether.

Very neat idea, although I didn’t want to incorporate Herobrine into the games lore in any way.

I was thinking of it as an extension of him having structures in your world, like he got there first. I just figured that a complete shrine with a sign that says "Do it" would be 1. over the top, and 2. too much free loot.
