Difference of the datapack and mod?

So I know one requires a launcher to run but is there any key differences? like features missing or something?

Datapack requires resourcepack, mod doesn’t

The resource and datapack are the same thing

When using the datapack, it needs to be in the world file but also in and activated in your resource pack folder

i played with the mod only and still needed the resourcepack

it doesn't require any specific launchers tho? i use mc's official launcher and it works just fine

you dont need the resourcepack for the mod, just make sure mod resources are above anything else in the list of texturepacks you have enabled (at least thats what i did)
