I installed the most recent 1 click and followed the txt tutorial and everything seems to work well until I launch the game and then it just crashes at the HOYOVERSE screen

swift hornet
#

This is an issue with your game, first go get a full valid working game to proceed.

shadow sluice
#

How is it invalid? I just installed it

swift hornet
#

Ok and what game client did you get?

shadow sluice
#

I guess I missed that step I'm not sure

swift hornet
#

So what game are you launching then

shadow sluice
#

I downloaded it form the laucher

#

from*

swift hornet
#

The official hoyo launcher, so 5.0? And you have a 5.0 server to use?

#

Don't know what the custom setup you're using is for, but I doubt it's for 5.0.

shadow sluice
#

idk if the server on the github was 5.0

swift hornet
#

The discord you're in right now, Grasscutter, is not.

#

So I'm going to guess you're using a 5.0 client with the 4.0 patch, which will in fact cause a game crash, yes.

shadow sluice
#

Makes sense

swift hornet
#

I'd suggest you go follow the setup guide.

shadow sluice
#

Thank oyu

#

you*

#

The thing is though I'd rather use 5.0 and I've seen it talked about on here

#

Idc if it's buggy as long as it launches

swift hornet
#

Ok then go get the latest Cultivation (1.4.9) and find yourself a 5.0 fork of Grasscutter to use

#

It will be extremely broken compared to 4.0. If all you want is to try characters then it should be fine for you

shadow sluice
#

That is exactly what I wanna do thank you

shadow sluice
swift hornet
#

They're linked in many places in this discord, and you should also be able to find them through google, but I'll just link you again anyways

shadow sluice
#

Every cultivation location et me to alpha 1.2

#

Thanks

swift hornet
#

and for a GC fork that supports 5.0 you need to download and compile either LunaGC or UnknownAnimeGamePS

swift hornet
#

also all the ones in any recent support thread

shadow sluice
swift hornet
#

that's one, yes

shadow sluice
#

I need to download the zips?

swift hornet
#

Of Cultivation? Please don't unless you specifically know why you are.

#

As per the instructions, get the msi.

shadow sluice
#

No these

swift hornet
#

Ah I see you're talking about GC there, not Cultivation

shadow sluice
#

Yep

swift hornet
#

That's the game

#

Don't you already have the game?

shadow sluice
#

Yeah

#

But I had it downloaded through the official launcher and if that won't be supported that's fine I can downlod it if need be

swift hornet
#

Those links are the official game, from the official launcher. There is no custom client, it doesn't exist.

#

Those links are direct to the official server in fact, it's not even a separate upload.

shadow sluice
#

Oh okay makes sense then

#

Wow okay cool

#

Then what about the gc fork?

swift hornet
#

You have to do the normal GC manual setup, but with the fork.

#

Whether you pick LunaGC or UnknownAnimeGamePS doesn't really matter but LunaGC has been updated more.

shadow sluice
#

OKay okay cool I think I get you now

swift hornet
#

You have to follow the normal setup steps to download the source, compile it, add resources, and run it.

shadow sluice
#

Thanks again

swift hornet
#

Sure thing

shadow sluice
#

Wait I can only find 4.6 for LunaGC

swift hornet
#

just go to the 5.0 repo for it

#

go to any other lunagc repo, go to the url, change the version to 5.0.0, hit enter

shadow sluice
#

How do I stop cultivation from using 4.0

#

Or rather GC

swift hornet
#

It's not "using" 4.0, it's telling you that is what version it supports

shadow sluice
#

But what about the other forks

#

This is boggling my mind

#

Too many forks fr fr

swift hornet
#

Yes there are forks for 5.0

#

you just pick one

#

they are all separate things

shadow sluice
#

How do I get rid of that GC 4.0?

swift hornet
#

Well... just stop using GC for 4.0

#

That's what the forks are for

#

You need to use one

shadow sluice
#

When I lunch the server trhough cultivation it starts the 4.0

#

launch*

swift hornet
#

Because that's what you have set

#

You need to pick a fork. Compile the jar. Add the 5.0 resources. You can simply use the same Grasscutter folder you currently are using for 4.0, just replace the jar and resources.

#

If it's in a new folder, set the new jar. If it's in the same folder, then your new jar will already be set since it's the same name as the previous one.

#

This is like you eating pizza. You have three boxes of pizza in front of you. You're eating cheese and said "I want to eat pepperoni now, what do I do?" and I said "well open the pepperoni box and eat from that", then you came back and said "but I can't stop eating cheese, every slice I pull out is cheese"

#

You have to actually open the pepperoni box and eat from it to get the pepperoni. Just having the box nearby isn't enough to be eating it

shadow sluice
#

😭

#

True true

#

I can't find the directory for the 5.0 LunaGC
I got into the repository but don't understand how to compile the jar

#

I just got the resources

swift hornet
#

You have to download or git clone it and then compile it from source.

#

You don't have a directory because you never downloaded it, you just looked at the github page

shadow sluice
#

Yeah I can't find the download

swift hornet
#

You either use the code button or you git clone it.

shadow sluice
#

I tried to git clone but was getting an unkown error when putting in the following commands to compile the server

swift hornet
#

did you change folders to the correct one first...?

shadow sluice
#

No clue

#

In translation no

#

My java environment is giving errors idk

#

This is why I gave up programming

#

and this is nothing💀

#

and it's teeling me I need to set up a proxy server through fiddler like what

swift hornet
#

fiddler is a proxy, but you're using cultivation

#

fiddler is for people who like to manually patch and not use a launcher

shadow sluice
#

Okay okay good

#

I've got the resources and the repo downloaded

#

Next step is to compile the jar correct?

#

I have no clue how to do that

swift hornet
#

Yeah no I'm not gonna explain the small details of compiling since it sounds like you're not even on the right version of java to build it. You can just use a prebuilt, like the one I'm providing on my Grasscutter fork github page
If you want to build your own in the future, you can just follow the real grasscutter wiki/manual setup (bottom of the github readme) for getting the right versions of java and building it.

shadow sluice
#

I did get the right java version if I recal but I could check

swift hornet
shadow sluice
#

Alright thanks

swift hornet
#

ie. using java 8

shadow sluice
#

I got an environmental error but I don't even know where to run the command

#

I'm so lost here tbh

swift hornet
#

the commands to build it? If you were following the setup steps you would be in the correct folder already, the grasscutter folder

#

how else will it know that's what you're trying to build if you're not in it

shadow sluice
#

I've seen like 10 different step by step guides saying different things at this point

#

So I need to see it from step 1 without fluff tbh

#

I reinstalled java

#

wow it's almost like it's working

#

cause the one that the other repo I dowloaded had me install was outdated

swift hornet
#

I don't believe there are any Grasscutter repos or forks of Grasscutter that point at the wrong version of java.

shadow sluice
#

Interesting

#

Maybe I'm mistaken

#

Either way it worked this time

swift hornet
#

LunaGC definitely isn't giving wrong java

shadow sluice
#

but now it's stuck like this

swift hornet
#

yup

#

now depending on your processing speed give it 3-10 minutes

shadow sluice
#

Okay cool

#

Now why have people compile it themselves rather than uploading it precompiled? So it's created in their java environment for optimization? I'm confused about that

#

Also it built

swift hornet
#

No, it's because it's a fork that is intended for people that know a minimum of what they are doing

#

it also is already available prebuilt

shadow sluice
#

Makes sense okay

#

I did not find that😭

swift hornet
#

if you just went to the actions tab while signed in to github you could download one

shadow sluice
#

💀

#

Makes sense

#

well when I do that with LunaGC it brings me to this

#

So it's not prebuilt for this one

swift hornet
#

Then they've specifically removed the actions from their repo, as GC has actions to build jar on every commit by default. Any forks will inherit that

shadow sluice
#

Oh okay interesting

#

Where do I put the resources folder?

#

Strait in with the jar?

swift hornet
#

if you plan on loading from zip, yes

shadow sluice
#

This is what I'm getting

#

OKay it's in the resources

#

what about the fully use questing thing?

swift hornet
#

you're loading from folder not from zip

#

you either need to change your config to load from zip or unzip the res into a resources folder

shadow sluice
#

Oh okay

swift hornet
#

your resources were not loaded at all, the questing message is generic, but irrelevant right now since you didn't load any resources at all

shadow sluice
#

extracted into resource folder

#

still got this

#

as well as this

swift hornet
#

yup

#

completely normal

shadow sluice
#

Okay cool

#

now what here?

swift hornet
#

login and play

shadow sluice
#

I login normally? I thought the whole point of this was to play and test characters and stuff without a ban?

swift hornet
#

Not sure where the idea of a ban came from

#

You're on a private server

#

There is no connection to official in any way shape or form. That includes accounts.

shadow sluice
#

Okay great

swift hornet
#

You are running the database on your pc. You use an account that is made on your server that exists only on your pc.

shadow sluice
#

I am getting this error now

swift hornet
#

You're not connected properly, or your server is not running

shadow sluice
#

Just clarifying

#

Server is running

#

My port is the same as the other guys

swift hornet
#

You mean it's changed to 8088..?

shadow sluice
#

Yep

#

443 here though

swift hornet
#

right so you either need to change it back to the correct port of 443 or connect to it on 8088

shadow sluice
#

where is the config file located?

swift hornet
#

in your grasscutter folder

shadow sluice
#

Username not found

#

How do I configure the user?

swift hornet
#

make an account

#

all grasscutter commands are very simple

shadow sluice
#

is there a directory for commands?

swift hornet
#

can you ask it as a question? Then you've already said the command
How do I make an account? -> account is the command

#

and yes, the gm handbook in your grasscutter folder

shadow sluice
#

Cool

swift hornet
#

as also said in the pinned thread #1025543438604710018

shadow sluice
#

Got it set thank you so much
Sorry about all this
You the goat fr fr❤️‍🔥
