#getting public server errors
35 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
i also get this if this helps
This is for a local server
Are you on local or on public?
Since your title is about palying on a public one, but your cmd is a local server
Fair note if you're getting an error with a public server it's a very good chance that server is down or you're not using the correct connection settings.
Mentioning what server and settings would be greatly beneficial
i just went to #1021267906505490472 to look for some and none of them work, tried the GC official one aswell but no luck. this was when i tried connecting to it
You're first off using the wrong version of the game, so yes no server will work
You need to read those server listings and use the version it says
But also, the GC official server is marked as offline, you can't play on it regardless
You're probably using 4.2, right?
You need 4.0 to play on any current Grasscutter server, local or otherwise
i just installed genshin from the site so probably yeah
3.2/3.4 for GIO
The setup guide is for running your own local server, but it has the link for the correct version of the game
You need to use that or get another version for whatever version server you want to play on
if i get a different version will it uninstall 4.2?
normally no, but replacing it would get rid of the older files, its more a question about if 4.2 gets replaced by i guess 3.4
normally no
So there is your answer
unless i can play servers on 4.2 offline
Nope
If you replace it, it gets replaced. If you don't want to replace it, don't replace it
It's the same as every other file on your pc
Fair warning if you for some reason try to, do not place game files on top of an existing install of the game. All you'll do it break both of them.
Just like with anything else you download, simply keep them separate. It's not even something you have to conciously do. You would have to deliberately go out of your way to overwrite anything.
right, just making sure
Would have been obvious if you'd just looked at what the game download is
It's a zip
Does a zip file all on it's own overwrite something on your PC? No, it goes where you extract it to and that's it
As long as you're not deliberately extracting it onto your existing game install, then your normal game (4.2) is completely unrelated
i just assumed the update was internally, dont gotta step on my toes, but yes, i get the gist of it
It's not an update, it's a downgrade since you're going back in versions. The only way to go back in versions is full redownload. Anyways, sure, I'll leave you to it.
