please help this is my first time trying this private server thing (forgive my incompetence). i did everything in the setup guide from the github but when it comes to actually starting the game it keeps saying this "Server busy. Please try again later. (502).

You said you followed the setup guide, are you positive you installed MongoDB as it says to do?

i think i did. i downloaded the installer and run it though when it finished the window was literally off screen and the only thing i could press was the X button. so i thought i did

Ok then go to Cultivation settings and check the box for auto mongodb
then start Grasscutter again

Great go open windows services and scroll down to MongoDB

That means you don't have it installed if it is not there
Make sure you install it with all default settings. You can uncheck compass on the very last page to make it faster, since compass is not needed
