#crash at login

I'm Japanese and I'm sorry I'm not good at English.
I'm not used to this kind of thing again, so I think I'll be annoyed.

When I try to start it crashes at the login screen.
Then you will see [Dispatch] Client [0:0:0:0:0:0:0:1] request: query_region_list.
Also, I'm using a razer laptop and I uninstalled Synapse, could this be the cause?

At which login

Password login?
Opening door?

fair spear
#

Thank you for the quick answer.

#

at password login

neat bane

Possible. Have you tried restarting your PC just to be sure?

#

Wait, before that, which thing crashes?

timid scaffold
#

Repair the game in the official launcher and then try again

fair spear
#

can you see this video?

#

I did restart and Repair the game. but it exactly the same symptoms remain.

timid scaffold
#

crashing here does appear to be the same as the razer synapse crash. Did you uninstall synapse and then restart pc? Could also be due to overlay programs if you have any running, stopping them or removing overlay could help

fair spear
#

It will always start on reboot.
I did a task kill and started the game, but the result was the same.
But I think this is the reason.

neat bane
fair spear
#

result was the same.

#

I kill it and reboot

neat bane
#

You likely have some other app that's causing the same problem or you aren't killing the task correctly.

fair spear
#

Any other apps you can think of?

#

uninstalled all razer apps

#

It does not appear even if you search in task manager

timid scaffold
#

Just to be sure, you didn't manually patch the game right? Just let Cultivation automatically patch? The game can crash if you have two patches at the same time, and although this doesn't look to be the case it would still be good to double check

fair spear
#

There is a high possibility that it is because it was a lot of trial and error.
Is there a way to confirm?

timid scaffold
#

I can tell you if you screenshot your Genshin game folder

fair spear
#

this one

timid scaffold
#

Yeah, that looks good to go, you're not double patched so that's not the problem

fair spear
#

I have absolutely no idea what is causing this.

#

it's difficult

neat bane
#

I also don't, give me a minute.

#

Click this icon in your taskbar and screenshot what comes up:

#

Wrong screenshot

#

I mean the ^ icon in your taskbar.

fair spear
#

of course!
Thank you so much!

neat bane
#

It should show apps that are running, some of which are closed and running in the background.

#

Razer Synapse is not the only app that causes this, but it's one of the most common ones.

fair spear
neat bane
#

Ok that doesn't look like anything that rings a bell, I'm not sure.

#

Give me some time to think about it.

#

Also going to search old issues.

fair spear
#

you are really kind
thank you very much.

neat bane
#

Ok so I don't know the answer to your question, I'll wait for someone else, this definitely isn't your fault or a common issue though

#

And no problem

fair spear
#

Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of this
thanks so much

neat bane
# fair spear Thank you for your thoughtful consideration of this thanks so much

The only thing that comes to mind is selectively closing non-essential apps and killing their tasks in the task manager (especially if they effect more things than themselves, such as overlay programs like Thoronium mentioned) and see if it starts working. Often the best way to deal with mysterious bugs like this is the process of elimination.

fair spear
#

Is there anyone who can solve this problem?

timid scaffold
#

To try to narrow down possible causes, some things you might try:

  • Uncheck "Automatically patch RSA" in Cultivation settings and launch, see if you still crash
  • Uncheck "Connect to Grasscutter" on the main Cultivation screen and launch, see if you still crash

Typically, what happens is that when you're not connecting to a private server, the crash doesn't happen. So to check if this is the case or not, you can launch with "Connect to Grasscutter" unchecked. The fact you are getting a little bit further in the screens than the typical crash could mean it is something else entirely, normal crashes here happen before the login is visible.

#

If you don't crash when connect to grasscutter is unchecked, then re-check it and try with just RSA patching unchecked. This can help determine what is the issue specifically

fair spear
#

Uncheck "Automatically patch RSA" in Cultivation settings and launch is impossible too.
but Uncheck "Connect to Grasscutter" on the main Cultivation screen and launch is possible.

neat bane
fair spear
#

can you tell me how to do it?

neat bane
#

In your Grasscutter console. It's started when you launch Grasscutter.

fair spear
#

I don't know why, but sometimes the background changes

neat bane
#

Hmm

#

There's not an error in the Grasscutter console, so I highly doubt that it's the Grasscutter server alone.

#

Press Windows and R at the same time and type C:\Program Files\Genshin Impact\Genshin Impact game in to the box that comes up, and press the "OK" button. Screenshot everything in the folder.

#

There's a slight chance that there may be error logs generated, I forgot which folder error logs are saved in but start by checking the folder I mentioned there.

fair spear
#

I discovered it!

neat bane
#

Open upload_err.log as well.

#

I'm not familiar with Astrolabe warnings, but I have them in my game debug.log too, I don't think they're the cause of the error.

fair spear
neat bane
#

Hmm

#

One minute

fair spear
#

ok

neat bane
#

Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to your question.

#

This is strange.

#

I'm going to wait for someone else to answer this.

fair spear
#

Anyone have an idea to solve this problem?

lyric stratus
#

Hi @fair spear, could you please record a video of your game launch with the RSAPatch window on the top?

dull marlinBOT
lyric stratus
#

..ignore the auto reply by the bot

neat bane
#

They were asked to try with RSAPatch both on and off.

#

The reason it's not on in that video is because they were testing with it off.

#

@timid scaffold Do you have any ideas?

lyric stratus
#

Oh sorry I misunderstood him

#

but its a problem with the proxy? thats much more impossible. May there be problems with the internet connection, or something wrong with the http server of the gc?

neat bane
#

No

#

It's the game crashing

#

Your game won't crash when the internet goes out

lyric stratus
#

fine

neat bane
#

I doubt it's a problem with GC itself because they have no errors or anything else unusual in the console.

lyric stratus
#

what if we change the GC host/port setting to a pair that doesn't exist?

#

so that we could quickly know if there are problems with GC or not

neat bane
dull marlinBOT
neat bane
#

I mean, it's not a terrible idea.

lyric stratus
neat bane
#

Yea I see

#

I doubt it would do anything, but @fair spear set the host and port to something made up and launch again. When you login, does it crash again or do you get system error?

lyric stratus
#

its already 00:48 in japan. Maybe he has fallen asleep

#

an hour earlier than mine ha

neat bane
#

Good point

fair spear
#

Could you tell me what to set specifically?

#

You mean the value here, right?

neat bane
#

Change it to random letters for the host and random numbers for the port, then try to log in and see if you get system error instead of a crash.

dull marlinBOT
neat bane
#

Shut up, Lawnmower.

fair spear
#

ok

#

Ill try it

neat bane
#

I highly doubt it will work, but it's worth trying.

timid scaffold
neat bane
#

Oh, I see.

#

That's a good point, I forgot about that.

fair spear
#

I got a system error

dull marlinBOT
timid scaffold
#

If you have another overlay application like RivaTuner or MSI Afterburner make sure they are closed

neat bane
fair spear
#

I don't use them

neat bane
#

Do you use any overlay applications?

fair spear
#

I couldn't find it in command prompt

fair spear
neat bane
#

Ok let's test something, change you port back to 443 and change your host to login.yuuki.me.

neat bane
fair spear
#

please tell me how to check it

timid scaffold
neat bane
#

Oh

#

Oops

#

Yes, login.yuuki.me is correct.

fair spear
#

server is busy 400

timid scaffold
#

make sure to use login.yuuki.me and port 443 and check the box for "Use HTTPS"

fair spear
#

oh sorry

#

ill try it again

#

it crashed

#

After all, it may crash when you can connect to the server correctly

#

dispatch did not come out this time

timid scaffold
#

Yeah this just confirms the issue is indeed client-side, though I already expected that to be the case. Your crash being a little bit further in than the typical crash here could be because it's of some software that just isn't well known enough (around here at least) causing issues.

fair spear
#

The question is, what software is that?

neat bane
#

Press Windows and R at the same time, type taskmgr into the box that comes up, press "OK", press this button to expand the window, and then take a screenshot:

#

That will give a larger list of running apps on your device.

fair spear
neat bane
#

Also, go to the startup apps tab and screenshot that, which will list all the apps that are very likely to be currently running because they are started when the system starts.

fair spear
#

To be honest, I don't really know what's inside because my computer isn't well organized.

neat bane
#

If you don't use these apps, try killing them if you can find them in the processes tab, and see what happens:

  • Widgets.exe
  • Lively Wallpaper
  • acrotray.exe
  • Rainmeter.exe
  • TransulecentTB.exe
#

If it doesn't let you kill them or causes bugs, don't kill them.

#

Also, if they show up under system processes, don't kill them.

#

Then after doing this, try starting the game again via a private server and see if it works. If it does work, restart those apps one by one, close the game, and start the game again until the bug re-occurs. Once it starts reoccuring after a specific app is started, we know that app is causing it.

#

Another idea I have if that doesn't work is letting the crash happen, and then immediately afterwards, pressing the Windows key on your keyboard or clicking the start icon, and typing event viewer in. Open Event Viewer and screenshot everything that comes up in all of the Event Viewer sections.

#

Any errors in Event Viewer will help us narrow down the app that is causing this. I've never seen this happen before for anything other than Razer Synapse, so this is likely a new issue due to a program that's not very popular.

fair spear
neat bane
fair spear
#

just a moment plese

neat bane
#

Sure thing, take your time.

fair spear
#

I've come this far, what should I do?

#

Game launches once and crashes

neat bane
#

Also, what do these say in English?

timid scaffold
fair spear
#

Is it ok?

neat bane
#

Ok I see, I'm going to look into it right now.

#

@timid scaffold Ok I need you to look at the logs they provided. My Event Viewer broke a while ago (the event service stopped running and when I try to start it in services.msc it just stalls indefinitely), and it apparently won't let me look at evtx files now.

timid scaffold
#

Only one of those logs is even from today, so I don't think there will be useful info to glean from these

fair spear
#

In that case, we have to assume a new cause.

neat bane
#

Whatever the app is that causes the crash is not logging into the Event Viewer.

neat bane
# fair spear

Try disabling everything inside the startup apps section except for SecurityHealthSystray.exe, then restart your computer without opening any apps besides those necessary to launch the private server. After doing that, try launching the private server again.

lyric stratus
fair spear
#

it crash

lyric stratus
#

you sure that it works when connecting to the official server right

fair spear
#

it works normally
What we know so far is that it only crashes when it successfully connects to Grasscutter.

lyric stratus
#

I guess we should find a way to get the internal logs from Genshin Impact

#

@fair spear Do you have a Visual Studio installed? (not really required but might be faster to do a debug)

#

......

lyric stratus
#

Okay

#

let me try to debug Genshin to test if it could work

fair spear
#

Could you tell me how to do it?

lyric stratus
#

it seems impossible. Genshin Impact refuses all debuggers

#

maybe other ways

fair spear
#

oh...

lyric stratus
#

Have you tried to fix the game files by the official launcher?

#

my god its super weird, especially without any useful line of error log

lyric stratus
#

uhhhh that's weird enough

neat bane
#

Yea so this happens with apps like Razer Synapse.

#

However, they say that they've uninstalled Razer Syanpse.

neat bane
#

@fair spear Ok so can you go through your device and uninstall apps that you do not use?

dull marlinBOT
neat bane
#

What the hell, Lawnmower?

#

Oh, your ID contains the error code that triggers the response, lmao.

#

Also, press Windows and R, type taskmgr, press OK, press the button that expands the window, and screenshot the contents of these sections:

neat bane

#

Another jars are working

timid scaffold
# neat bane 502

You should be making your own post with your issue and relevant information

neat bane
fair spear
#

is it ok?

neat bane
#

@fair spear OK, you need to do this and then try playing - if it works we can confirm it's an app that is running which causes it: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd

When doing that, you may get MongoDB-related errors. If you get MongoDB-related errors, you'll need to press Windows and R at the same time and type services.msc and press OK. Once you are in there, you need to find MongoDB Server (MongoDB) and start the service.

What this will do is essentially let you run Windows without auto-starting any unneeded services or apps.

dull marlinBOT
neat bane
#

Ignore Lawnmower, your Discord snowflake ID contains the error code that triggers the autoresponder.

#

Also, the issue you have is very very rare. In fact, I think this is the first time that something other than Razer Synapse has caused it, though I could be wrong.

#

In fact, I'm very surprised it hasn't been resolved already. This is a rather strange issue.

lyric stratus
#

May playing Genshin Impact in a sandbox help?

#

that's a fucking weird problem

neat bane
#

If you mean a virtual machine, then yes that would fix the issue but it takes a long time to set up and is rather complicated. I'd rather not do that unless there's no way to fix this in some other way.

lyric stratus
#

literally

#

I meant to use a sandbox software, e.g. Sandboxie

timid scaffold
#

Last I checked Genshin won't run sandboxed, at least not out-of-the-box sandboxie

fair spear
neat bane
neat bane
lyric stratus
#

Instead of making a clean install of Windows 10, how about installing a minimum Windows 10 installation as the 2nd system

neat bane
#

If you mean dual-booting, that's rather complicated.

lyric stratus
#

okay fine

neat bane
#

I'd prefer not having to get them to make any system changes, download more software, etc., because this has already taken way too much of their time and I'm just as confused as them.

lyric stratus
#

so making a clean boot should be chosen

neat bane
#

No

neat bane
#

Clean boot is not a clean install.

#

Those are two different things.

#

A clean install would erase apps, a clean boot just temporarily doesn't start them.

fair spear
#

It's crash

lyric stratus
#

OH sorry I misunderstood

neat bane
#

No worries

neat bane
#

This could be an issue with your game client.

#
  1. The programs that appear to be running aren't likely to cause this.
  2. You've disabled most startup apps (besides that one that shouldn't be disabled as it's related to Windows Defender).
  3. Running a clean boot still causes a crash.
  4. There is nothing of note in the Event Viewer.

^ These things do not point to the usual causes but could be an issue with the game client itself.

#

Have you tried repairing the game in the official game launcher?

timid scaffold
#

Game runs in official without issue says it's an issue with private specifically though

neat bane
#

Oh, that's a good point.

#

Hmm

lyric stratus
neat bane
#

This is the most mysterious problem I've seen before. I can't think of what could be causing this. Give me some time to think.

lyric stratus
#

Maybe... How about a network inspection for a network connection debugging

fair spear
#

Synapse popup appeared when I plugged in my Razer mouse. When I proceeded to the next step, I was asked if I wanted to install Synapse. Maybe it's a Razer computer, so Synapse may be running in a deeper place.

lyric stratus
#

e.g. using Wireshark to check if the game is connecting to GC

timid scaffold
#

The game is reaching Grasscutter, which is what is causing the crash to occur

#

If they don't reach GC the game won't crash

lyric stratus
#

uhhh

#

maybe deeper softwares

neat bane
#

If you can't get it to uninstall, I would suggest using the app BulkCrapUninstaller to remove Razer Synapse.

fair spear
#

I uninstalled it long ago

#

when you tell me

neat bane

Hmm

#

Hold on

neat bane
#

Alright got it

#

Let me know if that works.

Just so you know, here is how you download BulkCrapUninstaller: https://www.bcuninstaller.com/

This is caused by your game not being patched correctly ^

#

The message link points to the wrong thing, hold on.

timid scaffold
#

You have this tagged as Cultivation, as long as you are using it just check "Automatically patch RSA" in settings instead

neat bane
#

Oh, yeah, that's a good point, my bad.

fair spear
#

razer pc is powered by razer controller
I had to use special software to remove it.

neat bane
#

Well, that is a really strange thing. I don't keep up to date with PC stuff, I didn't know that Razer had a PC, so I should've realized that this could be happening earlier on. I hope it works. ColleiSalute

fair spear
#

I left it off to experiment last time

neat bane
#

Also, it's not really special software, it's just an app that can remove programs which uninstalled incorrectly or don't show up in settings.

Keep RSA patching on.
