Towards the end of WW2 the Soviet Union pushed into Germany taking over it entirely due to the failed D-Day attack instead of it being split like in our world. After the war the Allies attempting to keep peace after the devastating war set up a southern communist Italy. With the north becoming capitalist overall giving the U.S.S.R more power in the region. The Korean War would see the north completely destroy the South Korean regime before U.N and American forces could effectively help leading to a Communist Korea. The Vietnam war goes the exact same however the USSR uses its position with support of China to support communist parties in and around India leading to a primarily Communist Asia. During this time the Soviets would also make major strides in space technology landing on the moon before the US. With them collaborating with German scientists captured after WW2 to do so.
By the mid point of the war the Soviets would have become the dominate diplomatic force in the world and the 2nd largest GDP a good bit behind the American one. The Soviets would then invade Afghanistan which although would give them hard troubles would eventually be secured and become a Soviet puppet state. In the early 2000s with the American moral at its lowest seeing there mortal enemy dominating the world order many just wanted to focus on domestic issues. However after the election finished and accusations of voter fraud started the US was engulfed into chaos. A Soviet backedo communist regime sprang up in the west whilst they invaded Alaska. Texas would leave and bring with it territories of other states. The Union of America would also form seeing itself as a moderate majority nation. With it no longer seeing eye to eye with current American politics. All in all leading to a Soviet led world
