The game has Kosovo, Taiwan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and the Saharan Arab Democratic Republic and even Somaliland. But for some reason there is no Abkhazia and South Ossetia

Kosovo, Taiwan, Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic (Western Sahara) and Somaliland is partially recognized state.
Which means its independence and sovereignity is recognized by most countries.
While South Ossetian state, Abkhazia, Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Donetsk People's Republic, Luhanks PR is on unrecognized list since their independence is recognized by less countries and mostly non-UN member

Abkhazia and South Ossetia were recognized by Russia, Nicaguara, Venezuela, Nauru, and Syria. And also partially recognized and non-recognized states.
The game has the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as I know, only one member of the UN recognizes Turkey

Yeah, its weird this game include TR Northern Cyprus, i mostly remove it on my custom mode
But their recognization is not legal aka its a funded seperatist, basically any partially recognized state legality is if they really do it by themself and not funded by any member.
While S-Ossetia, Abkhazia, Transnistria is heavily funded by Russia
