Killer:Skull Merchant

Killer tier: A

- How to play:

Her power is a bit complex, she starts with 4 drones
You have the ability to use the drones to scout and apply certain status effects to survivor in the drones active radius
The basic one being Exposed status effect(survivors are insta downable) And you gain undetectable status effect while in active drones radius
And other status effects like hindred to survivors and haste to killers and certain action speed boosts can be added using addons

- Indepth: (source from thegamer)

  • The Skull Merchant's power is based on patrolling different areas and shutting down certain loops. You'll start the trial with four Drones, and you can place a Drone whenever you press the Power button. The device is activated after a couple of seconds and has different abilities:

  • If the Killer stays in the Drone's radius for two seconds, they'll get the Undetectable status effect. This effect removes your red stain and the terror radius for all the Survivors.

  • When a Survivor is in the radius, you'll be able to see a charge-up on the HUD behind the Survivor's picture. When this charging circle is completed, the Survivor gets Exposed, which allows you to down them in one hit even if they're healthy. This effect lasts for 60 seconds after they leave the radius. If there are no Survivors in the Drone radius for a few seconds, it'll enter a passive state where it will have two beams that will constantly move around a certain radius. If a Survivor gets detected by these beams, the Drone will enter the active state again.

  • When the Killer places the Drone or activates it again, it will stay out of reach for a few seconds. After that, the Drone will come lower and Survivors can enter the area and interact with the Drone to deactivate it. The Survivor will have to hit five buttons in the correct order to remove the Drone, and this will give them the Claw Trap.

This is outdated sadly. She got her rework 5 days ago but the devs have not given her the ability to deploy drones on a floor above or below of another drone. She suffers on the new map "The Game".

She’s closer to B tier but still a strong killer. Does not require high skill, just general map knowledge and relatively good gamesense. Gen pressure is top prio, add Sloppy to your build along with gen regression perks and addons and in certain maps you’re unbeatable unless the enemy team has a specific gen progression comp build. That said, skull merchant is also the most boring killer to play and anyone who mains skull merchant and actually has fun is just an average killer who cannot get straight 4k’s in rank one on literally any other killer than skull merchant.

That pretty much sums it up, if you main sm, you just suck on every other killer. 🤷‍♂️

# buoyant robin I main her and she is quite fun for me atleast. Similar to hag and trapper in se...

She’s not similar to Hag or Trapper, atleast not from my experience. Set up drones on a 3-Gen, camp. That’s it, that’s the game. I’m glad you have fun, but it really isn’t and now when she’s “weaker” I can’t imagine the pain people experience playing her. Since her nerf, I haven’t gone up against her one, single, time. Meaning people only played her for her broken gen pressure. She’s a trash killer if you’re mediocre at playing her. She’s a god killer if you’re just good at playing her. If you’re an extremely experienced killer, well, it’s easy 2 pips every single game.

I’m not stating my opinion, I’m talking from experience. Out of 600-700 games the past 2 seasons-ish I’ve played against SM 15-20 times, granted that’s not a lot. That is because she’s boring to play unless you’re going for the long boring games of only gen camping and getting a hook only every now and then until no one’s left alive. Sure, it’s a free 2 pip, but it’s easy yet hard because the game takes a long time to finish and it’s mentally exhausting to play EXACTLY the same every single game. In the 15-20 matches against SM, 3-4 of them were extremely good, lucky for them they got good maps such as Saloon, Hospital or Chapel. Strong sm maps (Every small map + corrupt is an insta 3-gen setup). These 3-4 sm’s destroyed us. Because they were decent and knew exactly what to do. Each game took 30-40 minutes to complete. I would have said 5 sm matches were hard but one actually gave up after having regressed over 2000% gen progress from me and my swf. They didn’t want to waste more time and let us all escape. The rest of all the sm matches were baby killers, who practically had no idea what they were doing. So they lost fast, as hell. Which is boring to them and a waste of time for a SWF. No one had fun, and no one has fun against an extremely good sm either. It’s an endless loop, this killer should never have been released in this game, she’s extremely out of place, not scary or intimidating, boring to play, no cool cosmetics, received the most negative feedback out of all characters in dbd or even at all, on a vote (PC), 15% thumbed up sm out of 100%, 13 of those precents were sm mains, the rest 85% hated her release. She’s trash, always was always will be. When she was added to pc 30.000 ish active players quit 2 weeks after her release, another 20.000 ish give or take a couple thousands quit a few more weeks after. Biggest playerbase dip in dbd history. Need I say more?

So she can be fun… but is she really? Or is it because she’s easier to gain positive results on which transitions to happiness? Easy = Fun, Hard = Boring. Cheap gaming mindset imo, but I’m not discriminating. Have fun 🙏

You're talking about chess merchant which is no more and i also hated it but i preffer chase merchant which this rework is what makes her turn into one. I agree with the 1st rendition of skull merchant being boring it was also a design flaw on the Behaviour devs for launching her in that state.

The reason why i state that she is like trapper and hag is because you "trap" tiles/loops which survivors will go distract the killer or areas suvivors pass alot which when i looked for a guide (pixel bush on youtube) they named the areas "traffic spots". If you stay you get a clawtrap and hindrance for 6 seconds while SM gets a 3% haste (she gets haste when survivors are detected for 12 seconds and when claw trapped it last until the trap falls off). Plus you appear on her scanner for the same amount of seconds if detected or clawtrapped, but also the haste starts with 3% and if another survivor gets trapped it increases to an additional 2% up to 9% (if all 4 survivors are trapped which is rare to happen unless you dont know her power well).

She is weaker but more manageable. When i play her, the survivor players know how to counter her but to a small extent (they disable drones but dont crouch or stand still in range when trying to approach to disable). I get around 2k-1k, but im having a blast with her which is all that matters for me.

PS: her 3 gen playstyle is dead.
