Replace Dall sheep with Bighorn sheep/Stone sheep on New Laurentia

Right now the animals selection for first map is decent, except for one stand out - Dall Sheep

Its nice to see them in some game but i may notice that they are completely out of place. The ew Laurentia seems to be based on Alberta Rockies and Dall shep are never met in wild nature in environments like that with animals like rocky mountain elk and etc. The mountains of New Laurentia absolutely doesnt look like dall sheep habitat. They live on open rocky slopes and not in the forest. i know its a game but this does impact the authenticity of the environment.

And lack of bighorn sheep overall makes this rocky mountains map feel lacking. So if there is a slightest chance this could be changed please consider it.

Dall sheep is an animal for Alaska or northern British columbia but not rocky mntns.

I have to agree with you. As much as I’ve been dying to have Dall Sheep in A modern hunting game. They forced them onto this map. This, along with a million other things make this an arcade, not a hunting sim as advertised.

I didn’t know much about Dall Sheep so after looking into them I agree. They have no place on this particular map. Even forcing them to the “mountains” isn’t enough.

When the species focused feedback happens for Dalls it will be interesting

I mean. I also am a huge fan of dall sheep. Been wanting to see them for long, even in woth 1. But i mean not like this.

When i think of dall sheep there is a specific biome that comes to mind, and not what this parricular map has to offer. And i mean, even now i would say that dall sheep model need a rework, its totally off.

And i also think that bighorn sheep feels species roster much better for this map

Bighorn sheep would be a good choice for a replacer

The only other sheep I think would be a better fit are Stone’s Sheep, heck Stone’s might be easier since they are basically Dall’s with more grey

I mean i cant remember any game where we got stone sheep.

New Laurentia feels like narnia. It doesn’t capture hunting in the Rocky Mountains at all in my eyes

For anyone that doesn’t like the idea. What would be the reasoning behind wanting to keep Dall Sheep on the map?

It would be like having a Virginia map and throwing gators on it because Virginia is considered the South.

That could justify all of it i guess. Even the name. Park owner just thinks it’s a pretty name.

I mean this works both ways. This justifies even stupid animal choices

And while it may work for new zealand and for texas, idea of introduces species in american rockies feels a bit off.
Like dall sheep in texas (they are there but it looks weird)

And mountain goats on rock walls and mountains sides whit climbing ability as skill to be unlocked in naturalist section

Also dall sheep should be in that habitat moostly as in real life

The map is a general mix of British Colombia and Alberta. So them existing here is not that big of an issue in my opinion. As for them being replaced, I doubt that they will. To much work.

They probably could have done better for their habitat and where they spawn (i.e. higher elevations with less foliage), but it is what it is. Though them being in forested mountains is not a stretch.

Their model is off. Horns positioning and model need work.

And i doubt they will place them in proper areas so i hope atleast they improve on models

The work load and the map being inspired by British Columbia and Alberta is why I generally suggest Stone’s Sheep as it would be making the Dall’s more grey

I imagine its not as simple as that but its probably easier then full on replacing them with Bighorn Sheep

While Stone’s are not present in Alberta, they are the main Thinhorn Sheep subspecies in British Columbia
