So One of the things that I personally Found Extremely Annoying in WOTH 1 and That I Hope Will get added and Fixed in WOTH 2, is How the Predators Regardless of what “Specific Species or Gender With maybe 1 Exception for one Species Gender wise but we will cross that bridge when we get there” all basically looked the same Regardless of What Age they were with Very “and I Do mean Very” little Changes as they aged Which makes it very Difficult to Judge the Age of The Animal Unless you Use the Hunter’s Sense which I get it that it’s much easier to Tell the age Difference in most Prey Animals then with Predatory Animals I get that, but it still is weird because if you look closely IRL There are very Noticeable Changes in Animals including Predators as They Get Older, and in-terms of fitness again If you didn’t use the Hunter’s Sense while using your binoculars you wouldn’t be able to Tell if that animal has High Fitness potential or is a Low fitness animal….So I have an Interesting Idea for how Hunting for Predatory Animals and Predator Fitness can be handled in WOTH 2 and make it better and help with Fitness
#Give Predatory Animals of Different Ages, and Fitnesses various Different Appearances
28 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
1: “Have Predatory Animals Bodies Change as they age” this one is Self Explanatory but a much needed, So for This I think I should be importent to have And Physically Show predatory Animals Age from “Young to Mature” by having their Bodies Age and Growing overtime, For Example “Young Predators would be Much smaller, Lighter, Leaner, Shorter and have different Facial Features, As They Age To Adults They Grow Larger, Longer, gain more Muscle mass and Body fat depending on the Predatory animal in question and their Facial Features Changes into their more recognizable adult Look, With the Possibility of gaining Scars on their bodies But once again we’ll get to that when we get to that and Once they have Reached the Mature Phase of their Life They will be at Full Size, Even Bigger, even more Muscular or Fatter again Depending on the Species, Maybe more Gray around their Faces and Muzzles, Longer Sizes in Both Height and Length, Heads somewhat Hanging down A little bit and Much Greater Intelligence and again maybe Scars on their bodies to signify a tough life”
1000% that infuriated me about the first game, there was zero incentive to hunt for big predators because they all looked the exact same. There needs to be a HUGE difference between even matures if theres a big genetic difference. We absolutely need varying sizes of the body and head
2: “Difference in Appearance with Fitness” Ok so this one is kind of an Extension of the last one so with this Feature will help you Determine whether or Not As the Predatory Animal ages if it is High Fitness and 5 Star Potential or Low fitness, for example “as they age, Lower Fitness Animals may not be as Big, Heavy, Muscular, Fat, Powerful or physically and Mentally Healthy as compared to High Fitness Animals making it easier to help Tell them apart”, another Feature could be Scars and Injuries I told y’all we would come back to this one now this feature Could work for Animals of all Fitness however the Difference being of how the Scars would represent the Fitness of the Animal, for Example Lower fitness Predatory Animals would have a lot more Nasty looking Scars and much more Nasty Injuries hints at having a much more Brutal Life and lower Fitness, While Higher Fitness Animals might also have lots of Scars however they Would look much Better and look like they have Healed overtime Showing Their Much Higher Fitness Even 5 Stars would have these Scars not to mention Higher fitness animals would be less likely to show injuries, and if an individual does have an injury then that Injury watch like the scars would show signs, but it has healed overtime
3: “The Difference of In Age and Fitness in All different Predator Species” while they all have a similaric appearances being light, small, Lean and Short, while they are young, obviously Not all Predatory Animals are Exactly the Same so with this will go into more specifics for the differences of each Animal Group and how they Grow and their bodies change overtime
1: With Canids Northwestern Gray Wolves, Eurasian Gray Wolves, North American Red Foxes, European Red Foxes, Golden Jackals, Arctic Foxes, Coyotes and other future Canids and Hyenas Spotted Hyenas and other Hyenas in the future as they grow Their bodies while still being lean to start to become a bit more muscular and robust, Their Fur Grows Longer, their Tails Much More Fluffy, And Heads and Facial Features Change especially to match with the Adult and Mature individuals, With the Ears and Muzzles Growing larger and Longer
2: “With Bears American Black Bears, Eurasian Brown Bears, Grizzly Bears, Kodiak Bears and all other Bear Species In The Future” Their Muzzles would Extend too, but their Ears would grow Shorter, Their Claws would Grow Longer, Their Legs more Robust and Long, Their Bodies would Grow Taller, Longer and most of all They Would get Much, Much Fatter around their Bodies
3: With Mustalids American Badgers, Eurasian Badgers, Eurasian Wolverines, American Wolverines And All future Mustalids Their Claws would grow Longer, and Bodies would be More Robust and Stocky
4: With Felids Western North American Cougars, African Lions, Eurasian Lynxes, Bobcats and all other Future Wildcats As They Grow Their Bodies Become Longer and Much More Visually Muscular, And Robust and in Some Cat Species Their Tails might grow a Bit Longer, And in Male Lions Young will only have very short manes but as they grow their manes will get Longer, and in Lynxes and Bobcats As they Grow older Their Tufts will grow taller and more visibly and for all cats their faces will also Mature
4: “Giving Female Animals Especially Predators Genetic Fitness and Trophy Ratings/Star systems” See I told you guys we would Get back to This One, Now from what I’ve seen It looks like Female Animals “Might” KEYWORD “MIGHT” Be Getting Genetic Fitness but still I thought I’d still bring this up just in case basically with This one it’s kind of the same as the Past 3 but I still got Something to say, In WOTH1 Outside of Rare Fur Types, and Before we finally got Trophy Mounts Hunting Hunting for Female Animals kinda Felt Pointless and while the rare Furs and New Mounts Helped I Still think there is a lot more you could Do With Female Animal, For 1 Add The Trophy Rate and Star System to Female animals to help make them more Worth Going After
Let know your Thoughts and If you guys have anymore Ideas for this feel free to Comment
Some animal species herds/groups should be replaced whit hew species too many too often especially wolf, bison, dall sheep, mule deer, and their counterpart predators should be added instead cougars, bobcat, coyotes and also animal aggression adjusted a lot,20% of the map is not used to its full potential the mountains sides rock walls especially huge areas ,climbing skills and dall sheep, cougar ,mountain goats, bobcats should be there as in real life, as of now is unrealistic especially dall sheep everywhere is like shooting somebody's live stock and rams 🐏 on a grazing field, on rock walls would be more realistic and challenging especially whit climbing skills even retrieving them would be something if those areas would be revorked cleverly and put to use not wasted.
If new WAY OF THE HUNTER 2maps wont have gradually at least 23-25 species will feel repetitive and linear after a while same as happened to the abandoned WOTH1 wich easily could recieve new species still because its a totally different game, and base fir the mobile version
How many animal species are available?
There are currently 13 species available at the Early Access launch, with around 30 species planned across all maps by the full release.
On each map? 30? Or on both maps at official launch? 15/15 on both maps? If 30/map that's quite impressive even if 10 are small game and bird species. If recycled animals would be also kept balanced on future maps that share same species and focus would be on new specific species to each map then would be quite diverse.
Across all msps 30
Together not seperately
At launch that's fine but gradually over time adding new ones as in woth1 would bring fresh content and make the game expand posibility to new missions and gears content species to new animals
Also keep in mind:
Woth ! isn't "Abandoned". It's Finished. that's a difference.
The only thing it will still recieve is a final Bug Fix Patch
I really enjoy playing in hardcore mode without any HUD; with the improvements you suggested, the hunt would be perfect. I don't like shiny trails on footprints or blood, and now with the dog assisting us, it's great for immersion, not needing any other kind of help besides the dog. I hope the Ninerocks team brings us this improvement of being able to identify the types and conditioning of animals without assistive systems.
I feel like they will and they Won’t, Maybe for game Difficulty Modes like Easy and Normal modes Will still feature the HUD and such While Hard Mode Doesn’t Have any HUD
Whit time all these should be on the current map since all are native to Southern Canadian Rockies, whit mass herd freeze it's obvious some current species are copy pasted too many times.
While I agree with you I think the Priority for now should be to Fix the Bugs.
But I do want the Fox in game
Gradually whit time down the line, new species introduced to keep the map fresh and inviting, especially in periods when new maps major features are in development for longer period , and comunity can be kept active whit addition of new species till major update/ new map release, etc.
I also just want to add this for Part 4 of this 3rd Idea Because I didn’t have enough space to write about it “for Western North American Cougars and Any other Cougar Subspecies in the Future When they are Young have them be Lean and Still have “Some” Spots on their coat signifying They are still Young, But as They Grow up into Adults They Lose These Spots for their Traditional Brown/Orange/Tawny/Gray Pelt IRL As Kittens/Cubs Cougars have a Spotted coat, but as they get Older they lose these Spots, And once they become Adults they start to look more like Cougars With Males being Significantly Larger than Females with Both Genders also Gain their Iconic Black Tail Tips and Black Markings around their muzzles, Once they reach Mature Stage High fitness Males Would look Much Larger and Muscular to signify their high fitness/5 Star Potential”
Coyote Too it’s Time the Yotes made it into the Series
Agree all to the above, probably the single biggest disapointment in playing ranger is that shooting predators feels like a lottery
Whit visual detail this can be fixed, and probably will be in the new game, also high trophy and animals at maximum age should have a wery distinct visual presentation, not in a cartoon like exaggerated manner but adding that "wow" feeling and something special to 5stars like the mountain lion in the above image, adding fur shading/coloration bulk, facial detail or even marks(fur, wound, damaged antler parts etc) would make 5stars more sought after not just some "farmed specimen trough herd management " maybe spawning these from time to time as solitary animals whit single need zones randomly like rares do would make more sense to and please those who dosent really play the game to "grow five stars but rather more casual and realistic "
