#Wind Sound

It makes me feel like i'm standing 100m from a huge waterfall pretty much constantly
I've noticed that the wind sound comes from the actual direction the wind is blowing from, which I find kinda neat. I can judge the wind direction by ear alone, and know that if the wind sound is strong I am going in a favorable direction. I think they intend the wind sound to be a useful mechanic, but I agree that it is probably abit louder than it needs to be. I'm sure they are still tunning audio levels. Over all though I have already noticed an improvment over the frist game. I'm noticing fewer repeat sounds, and sounds seem to be more directional now than just mono ambient.
OK so i deleted the original message because on playing more i have noticed the wind noise does change depending on how windy it is, duh! 🙂 i was hoping for that, turns out its just been really windy most of the time ive played. However, i did see on the Road map more varied weather, id assume that means the weather will change more frequently, so if its very windy, hopefully it wont be very windy for days on end 🙂
There needs to be a way to control ambient background sounds in the settings seperately, as most games have (wind, birds etc). it's way too loud by default, my ears get ASMR fatigue after playing over an hour. Wind sounds much louder than animal calls, thats not realistic. I may be slightly in neodivergent category, also master audio as a music producer so this will drive me stark crazy
I agree, Sounds like we in a similar boat, i have annoyingly sensitive ears to this sort of thing.. Variety is key.. Its not just the wind though, the same general ambience carries on non stop wherever you are on the map.. I would prefer more variety in the ambience depending on your location.. I Also want to hear more directional based ambience from actual sound sources, like flocks of ambient birds taking off near by, i want to hear them. Bees buzzing around in the flowers that im crawling through, stuff like that, they have added some, like frogs at the marshlands.. just need more.. Essentially i dont want to hear the same looping ambience sounds non stop from one end of the map to the other.
directional sound seems a lot better than COTW (continually broken lol). continual White sound does something to human brains, thats why games let you control ambient sounbd voume seperately
