#Dog system is flawed

Why would we ever have the dog "heel" "release" when we can just instantly teleport the dog home and teleport him to us? there is no point having him out with you, unless you are tracking an animal.

It should be like COTW, where you equip the dog at home. Otherwise, whats the point?

On one hand I agree that it's immersion breaking to just teleport him to and away as needed. On the other I probably wouldn't use him at all without that convenience.
It's not hindering gameplay as is, so is it worth it to increase immersion? I don't know, but that's the crux of this discussion.

In COTW the dog(s) have quite a few uses besides just the blood tracking.
I still kinda like the dog in WotH2, but it's currently very limited in usage, and almost too loud to drag around all the time (for ones own ears, not the deers as far as I know) ..and covering the target view by walking by and showing how many meters away he is.. and having a fur color that makes it look like he's in a much more colorful dimension than the rest of the WotH2 world/animals/dimension.. and the at times immersion breaking teleports back to his own dimension when one send him home.

I wouldn't mind seeing a more useful dog later down the line, as in a little more multipurpose.. fetch shot birds and simply be a less annoying companion.

I used dogs in theHunter Classic, and in COTW.. while they weren't/aren't stellar, they at least are companions that stays quite, and even warns for dangers.

Sure I can live with the one we have now, but he's far from the best hunting companion.

i wish the dog was more useful, it’s one of the main reasons i was looking forward to this game

I enjoy walking around with the dog and do hope some more utility comes to it. Though I do think the convenience of just sending it to the bench out in the open is worth keeping as an option. Been playing with the dog where I can't send it home until I'm back at the main lodge, exception being if I want to take a break from tracking and take screenshots of the landscape.

I think one of the reasons to teleport them away, is because the heel position is in the wrong place, it should not at all be fully ahead of the handler getting in the way, it should be aside the handler with the front feet of the dog aliened with the heel of the handler.

and in the case of working in woodland etc generally wide of the handler by 1m+ or so in game.

Wery early to make an opinion about the dog and it's use since might evolve into something very decisive, but other than blood tracking is pretty much just a mood setting decorative element indeed,

And distracting nuisance at this early stage should at least have the ability to follow tracks by himself and keep at bay animals or signal when encountering them, also to detour predators until heeled.

Only reason I use a dog is if I'm bird hunting only cause I like to have them flush and recover birds I shot. Comes to tracking blood it's not really needed as blood if you hit them correctly shouldn't have a hard time tracking cause bad shots they don't always die so when I see small blood I don't even track cause I know it's a waste of time.
