My quick review

#

Hey everyone!
Here's a quick review of the demo, keeping in mind that the game isn't finished.

Positive points:

  • The weapon sounds are much more realistic. I'd still make them louder and more muffled.

  • The smoke effect seems more pronounced after firing. I'd add even more of it.

  • The animal behavior is good.

  • The new vehicle is good, and its handling is much better.

  • The new graphics are exceptional!

  • The dog adds a nice touch to the gameplay. Little sounds (like whistles) after a command would be appreciated.

  • The missions look interesting (even though I've only played the first one).

  • The fact that a scope is only used for one weapon is very useful. This forces you to buy one for each weapon, which improves the economy.

  • The backpack adds a management element. - I've already had the chance to enjoy some legendary weapons (unbranded for now) like the R8. Their arrival is truly welcome!

Negative points:

  • Seeing the bullet before it hits the target is a disaster. I already mentioned this in a previous post. It's impossible to see a bullet leave a barrel with the naked eye, and this really breaks the immersion. Playing on easy difficulty doesn't justify this sight either.

  • The weapon's recoil still lacks that feeling of strong energy. Strong but short vibrations should be added, as well as the sound of the weapon and the smoke, all proportional to the caliber used.

  • The aiming animation is very robotic. I'd like to see a circular motion when aiming, giving you time to see the weapon (thus moving away from this fast, arcade-style aiming).

  • When aiming, the area outside the scope (logically, at the zoom level of the human eye) is magnified just as much as the scope's own magnification. While certainly easier, it's also very unrealistic. It therefore lacks the main drawback of using high magnification: the difficulty of finding your target and the skill required to aim accurately.

  • The weapon customization menus are (in my opinion) too difficult and clunky. They could be simplified.

Suggested points:

  • More diversity and randomness in the animals. Sometimes a lone individual, sometimes animals lying asleep in the bushes (yes, most herbivores are primarily nocturnal). Something much more like our real forests (where you almost NEVER see an animal standing upright during the day).

  • I hope this game will feature a more challenging economy. In the old game, it was too easy to "finish" it economically. I hope that here, there will be the possibility of actually spending money: expensive and hard-to-obtain weapons, low income from animals, bullets that are never free and are priced at market value (~$60 for a box of 20), optics at market price, perhaps weapon maintenance, and gas for the car. And obviously, an animal doesn't bring in $800. The value lies in the edible meat, the edible organs, maybe the fur. All of this brings in an average of $200. No more.

  • I would really like to have a cold storage room for butchering (simplified, of course) the animals before selling them. Less easy money, much more realism, a true sense of ethics and the real work of a hunter, and more time to spend on activities other than pure hunting. To take it a step further, perhaps there would be a requirement to load the animals and transport them to the processing site (the car would be even more useful!). We're not playing a game where you have to kill everything. We're playing a more modest game! Every animal shot is a meticulous choice with practical consequences.

  • The requirement to adjust the scope of your weapon (simplified). In real life, it's not magic! You shoot, you adjust, you try again, you adjust, and you hunt.

  • My ultimate dream: the possibility of driven hunts. Driven hounds, animals that (sometimes) stop in their tracks and listen, animals that separate from the group, animals that slowly flee if the hounds are far away, wild boars that stand at bay when the hounds are near them, areas where there are no animals at all (bad luck, a poor hunt...). In short, a very, very big development project, I'm aware of that. Just know that after a lot of tweaking, this would be a dream come true for the French, German, and many other communities! We loved improvising this on The Hunter: Call of the Wild, and you have the chance to do even better!

It can definitely be more refined to be more accurate instead of looking like a tracer round I agree😆

A lot of really good constructive feedback here
