#Use the Boone & Crockett and CIC Scoring Systems

In real life, most hunters in North America follow the Boone & Crockett (B&C) scoring system when it comes to scoring big game.

For example, for deer, they are scored based on the width of their spread, length of each point and main beam, the girth of their antler bases, etcetera.

I would highly recommend looking into the B&C scoring system, as it would definitely help the game immensely.

Older games like theHunter Classic and Deer Hunter: The 2005 Season use the B&C scoring system, so why shouldn’t a newer game use it?

Additionally, the CIC Trophy Evaluation system seems to be the popular method in Europe, so it would also make sense to incorporate this as well when it comes to European species.

Adding onto this - the CIC system could be used for European species or species that B&C doesn't have scoring evaluations for

So I'm not 100% sure but I think both scoring systems are licensed and they won't let games use them. I wanna say classic is the only current hunting game that does. Pretty sure the cotw devs have talked about why they didn't use b/c for their scoring

They are happy to purchase the rights to Steyr, Remington, Bergara, Bear Archery, and Kawasaki products. I don’t see why they would draw the line at scoring systems.

It also depends on how much the Copyright holders demand for the License

#

In the worst case that could mean:
If the license runs out and is unable to be renewed the Game can't be sold anymore.

But that again the absolute wort case

Albeit, it’s not applied in the best way possible

We use the Douglas Score system almost exclusively in New Zealand, with the main exception being high-fence game reserves who typically use SCI, as they cater predominantly to American hunters, and Douglas scoring applies only to free-range trophies.

The system is fairly similar to Boone & Crockett, but is even less forgiving of asymmetry.

I suspect most players wouldn’t want to see it implemented in-game, as it would be unfamiliar to non-Kiwi or Australian players and only has systems in place for New Zealand and Australian species.

That said, I would personally love to see a system I actually understand at a glance.

#

I doubt a Kiwi scoring system would be as protective of their brand anyway. I’m not sure who has the rights to it though, or if it’s even copyrighted.

# round nymph CotW doesn’t use B&C

Israelgpt please generate me a generic response to “It’s literally the same thing just named slightly different lol” and be sure to not actually say anything substance.

also WotH is no stranger to partnerships

#

I’m sure arranging something with B&C and CIC is definitely possible

legit feels like they came up with their own scoring system and just tried to follow how B&C is without keeping it true to reality

Use the Boone & Crockett and CIC Scoring Systems

any sort of real scoring system would go a long way. I just want hunter classic 2 man 🙁

solar vine
#

Izt shouldn't become a mere copy of tHC tho

#

Simmilar systems sure but with it's own identity

#

And not a F2P or Subsription based Game

crimson ridge
#

For example even though the racks in classic are pretty dated they still have the most amount of variation than any other hunting game

#

You'll never shoot the exact same deer in theHunter Classic

solar vine
#

I get your point, just wanted to say it

crimson ridge
#

I don't think there's anyone here advocating for a f2p model or sub based hunting game haha

#

but i getcha

#

All I'm saying though is I would do things I would regret for a game that was just theHunter Classic with 2026 graphics and animations

solar vine
#

Yeah I gotcha.

#

For now we will have to wait and see how the direction of the game even looks like

round nymph
#

that’s how widely diverse the antler scores are

#

Seeing that level of diversity in a modern hunting game is what we’d like to see

crimson ridge
#

2009 game better antlers than 2026 games like how are we here

round nymph
#

I mean, a lot of older hunting games are like that, too. But we’ve yet to receive a good actual hunting simulation game since theHunter Classic, and Deer Hunter 2005 before it.

crimson ridge
#

like don't get me wrong theHunter classic has some pretty unrealistic things about it like shooting 10 deer standing next to eachother with a bow without spooking them but it's almost a mechanic that I enjoy because it rewards good shooting

solar vine
#

But again: We will have to wait and see

crimson ridge
#

that's why we're here leaving feedback 🫡

I personally think that need zones kinda ruin hunting games

solar vine

That's actiually one of the things I likt the most on WotH.

#

Tho I admit that for NHA they should be more Dynamic rather than fixed

TheHunter classic true randomness every time you load a map is both a blessing and a curse. Everything is session based and that deer you saw today is gone tomorrow but definitely opens up explording vast areas of maps instead of visting the same location over and over again

I think they could and mostly likely will still keep the herd management and persistent animals they just need to find a way for them to dynamically move around the map rather than stay in their set partitions of the map
