I hope we get a snowy Arctic map in WOTH this year so I made 2 possible ideas of snowy maps. The first is my Greenland map idea, check it out if you want but in this post I’ll show the map that I think would fit more, Russia! The devs said the next 2 maps will have a healthy mix of new and old spieces and Russia could use many animals from our existing European map Transylvania. Compared to Greenland which mostly only had new species which doesn’t fit the mix that the devs said. Anyway here’s my idea for the animal roster of a Russian map. As with my other ideas I go with realistic Animal count, current maps have 15, 14 or 12 species so I don’t make ideas with like 17+. It means some cool ones get cut but that’s the way it will probably be.

Total species: 14
Returning: 3
New: 11 (marked with a star)

Tier 1:
Wild duck
Western capercaillie*
Black grouse*
Mountain hare*

Tier 3:
Siberian musk deer*

Tier 4:
Eurasian lynx*

Tier 5:
Grey wolf
Wild boar
Siberian roe deer*
Snow sheep*
Siberian ibex*

Tier 6:
East Siberian brown bear*
Asiatic black bear*
Yakut moose*

3 of these new animals are similar to ones we have in game already, Just like how the Roosevelt elk and Alaskan moose from aurora shores are similar to the ones on Idaho but with some differences. This map has the Siberian roe deer, which are bigger than the ones on Transylvania, making them a tier 5 instead of tier 4, they also have much bigger and taller antlers. There is also the asiatic black bear, these guys don’t need much explaining, just look at the picture. They look very cool and definitely quite different from the American black bear!

As for moose on this map: there are 4 spieces of moose that live in Eurasia so the species chosen for the map could vary depending on where in Russia the map takes place. Each of these 4 Eurasian moose types have differences that set them apart from the western and Alaskan moose we already have. it’s most likely the map will be in central Siberia so out of the 4 I chose the Yakut/Siberian moose.

Well if your going to have separate subspecies, why not have a brown bear subspecies like the the Siberian Brown Bear (Ursus arctos collaris), they live in the same parts of Russia as the Yakutian Moose

I replaced the Eurasian brown bear on this list with the east Siberian brown bear (Ursus Arctos collaris), because it’s the one that would live in the part of Russia where the map would likely take place. This bear would be a bit smaller than our European brown bear and definitely much smaller than the Kodiak bear. It would also be much darker in colour, its legs and body would be mostly black instead of the grey on the European brown bear and the light brown on the Kodiak bear.

Personally I Feel Like Ussuri Moose Would Be A Better Fit If Siberian Musk Deer Are Gonna Be On This Map. Then Again, Having Western Capercaillie It Seems Like This Map Is Based On All Of Russia, Similar To Aurora Shores.
