Of course, the "naïve" solution would be to have the user create one entire set of animations per each powerup. But that is incredibly CLUNKY
i'd suggest testing with smw sprites so palette testing would be easier
cuz what i was thinking for the 2d players, it could be 1 spritesheet where its the main sprites, and 2 sprite sheets where its the same sprites but specifically clothes, like the hat n shirt, and overalls. essentially a mask sheet that can be used
there'd have to be a sort of atlas to organize them in a grid if anything so the masking would work, since a 16x32 size sprite for both bros would look ok with their hitboxes and wouldnt visually look weird
That is definitely another potential approach. However, the sprites can be ANYTHING, including high resolution images instead of pixelly art. For those, creating masks can be tougher
Although mvlo does kinda the same thing and was able to get away with it
I think having a couple of different methods the user can choose from could be desirable. For example, one for sprite masks, and another one that simply replaces arbitrary colours or hue shifts them

@tawdry solar Does enabling this make the fast variant unnecessary or is it just a speed thing?
No, you need to add a fast song for that toggle to have any effect. That toggle means that both songs are the same (just one sped up) so the game will try to "line them up" when transitioning. If it's disabled, it'll simply play the fast one from the beginning every time
I thought it'd use the same file and speed it up automatically
Truthfully the current fast song replacement system sucks hard and it's buggy, so don't expect much out of it

- Hud Scaling (Already in the next update it seems).
- Replay/Spectate features (always allow zoom in/out, just pause on replay end).
- Lit terrain (Fits specially for Jungle)
That reminds me that i tried to import a new fast variant track like the pokemon one i used but there wasnt any option that makes it its own track with its own loop points
So it just cut off near the end if the og fast track was short

Music that i put in for the ice map plays on grasslands sometimes.
Is this normal?
the og maps alternate between 2 songs
so if you replace one for "ice" it can appear on grassland or pipes or etc
should prolly rename "Snow" to "Overworld 2" or smth
So why can't i have ice a different song and grasslands a different song?

No, it is not possible currently
however, a feature is being worked on where you can add custom player sprites, as in, 2d images
i figured it was a good compromise since replacing models would be tedious and complicated

after that, open it in notepad and manually type out what you wanna add if its not in ezmod
for example, the track sprites, so you type this

Make sure to edit and save the file in notepad with ezmod CLOSED. only after you finish this process you can open the program back up, otherwise your changes will be lost!
And make sure the line is under the "[Sprites]" header :]
(tip: the program saves changes when you close it, and loads the config file when you open it. that's why the order of operations is important)

windows (the person) had this problem too. you have to reinstall mvlo bc there was a new silent build of 2.1 uploaded at some point that changed some things. just uninstall and reinstall mvlo (reinstalling ezmod don't do anything) (also backup your config before this just in case)
maybe it's weird directx bugging out i remember mvlo had issues with it too so if you really want your luigi try the compat build of ezmod (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1gLN3uB0SZeyoBi_THbwh744RrvtBdmAS/view?usp=drive_link i don't recommend it for daily use but it's meant for older graphics drivers)

again, i believe small more frequent updates might not be desireable for everyone but it will keep me fresh working on this since the roadmap is quite large
if anyone's got anything to say (features, bug fixes that i don't know of yet) before the next version comes out do let me know and i might try to fit it in :]

my object spawning code is imperfect bc just so many prefabs appear and disappear using different methods
some get created and then destroyed
some are always there, just getting visible and invisible
some get their gameobject enabled and disabled
it's kinda infuriating
goombas for example if you fireball them, they "fly off" the screen with an animation then stop below the stage
but if you stomp on them, they freeze in place and just have the sprite become invisible
so technically adding a light to a goomba might just leave the light there while the goomba is dead

it is workin, i was confused for a bit but it ignores loop points if theres nothing after the end point, so as long as theres smth after the loop point it works. fast variations work too from testin with the sky track so all is good atm
