Of course, the "naïve" solution would be to have the user create one entire set of animations per each powerup. But that is incredibly CLUNKY

i'd suggest testing with smw sprites so palette testing would be easier

cuz what i was thinking for the 2d players, it could be 1 spritesheet where its the main sprites, and 2 sprite sheets where its the same sprites but specifically clothes, like the hat n shirt, and overalls. essentially a mask sheet that can be used

there'd have to be a sort of atlas to organize them in a grid if anything so the masking would work, since a 16x32 size sprite for both bros would look ok with their hitboxes and wouldnt visually look weird

That is definitely another potential approach. However, the sprites can be ANYTHING, including high resolution images instead of pixelly art. For those, creating masks can be tougher

I think having a couple of different methods the user can choose from could be desirable. For example, one for sprite masks, and another one that simply replaces arbitrary colours or hue shifts them

No, you need to add a fast song for that toggle to have any effect. That toggle means that both songs are the same (just one sped up) so the game will try to "line them up" when transitioning. If it's disabled, it'll simply play the fast one from the beginning every time

Make sure to edit and save the file in notepad with ezmod CLOSED. only after you finish this process you can open the program back up, otherwise your changes will be lost!

  • Fixed the Mario Transition sprite bug (had to remove the custom sprite sadly)
  • Changed the Bonus tiles to be less like the blue unbreakable block in Pipes

my object spawning code is imperfect bc just so many prefabs appear and disappear using different methods
some get created and then destroyed
some are always there, just getting visible and invisible
some get their gameobject enabled and disabled

it's kinda infuriating

goombas for example if you fireball them, they "fly off" the screen with an animation then stop below the stage
but if you stomp on them, they freeze in place and just have the sprite become invisible

so technically adding a light to a goomba might just leave the light there while the goomba is dead

  • 💡 Added ambient lighting customizability to Environments! Also, you can now choose if you want tiles to not be affected by lights.
  • 🔁 Added Dev Mode! If enabled, the game will automatically do a hot reload if it detects changes to your files. It will react to edited sprites, music, sfxs, environments, and objects. This is useful for fast preview of your additions!
  • Exported packs now include Objects and Fonts!
  • Tweaks and Addons now persist if you load packs. Options are no longer lost.
  • Added a way to preview many replacements directly in the program (music, sfxs, sprites).
  • Fixed some voicelines being confused between Mario and Luigi.
  • Some SFXs that wouldn't be replaced now work (propeller). Some songs that wouldn't loop now do (mega).
  • New tweak: Streamer Mode. If you enable chat and name filtering in the game's options, all usernames will be hidden everywhere.
  • Added link to public pack repo in the program.

Notes

  • You do not need to update your packs to enjoy this update. However, since many things have changed, do let me know if anything that used to work stops working.
  • Dev Mode is just for testing and should not be a replacement for rebooting the game. It has some small differences to how files are loaded, so if in doubt, simply restart the game to correctly apply your edits.
