a week later after i said i was not planning to update this mod for 2.0 i showed the first glimpse of that, and over the past couple days i've been trying my best to understand what new stuffs were added on 2.0 that makes it so different from 1.7
i've done the first reskin port, and now i... well... ported the first of many maps
Now, i totally learned from my past mistakes and surely wont put any ridiculous deadlines on myself. What? No, i'm not insane or anything??
Just know i'm working on this. Full speed. More motivated that i ever was. Probably as motivated as when i first started working on this mod...
I do have hopes of eventually releasing a "demo" version soon
i'm not planning to work until i have EVERYTHING the purple coins update (or the one after that) had, i'm mostly thinking about... starting again, if that makes sense?
that was my main motivation behind going back to the good old 0.x versions, making it feel like it was a new beginning rather than one more update

this will load the music into ram when the stage starts so it plays immediately without a gap
the "load in background" just makes it so the game doesnt freeze while it's waiting for the audio, but there still will be silence while it's loading. preloading it avoids that

I Just chose whatever the vanilla soundtracks are selected
Decompress on load = loads data all at once and stores in ram as raw audio samples. can be played immediately without delay
compressed in memory = loads data all at once, but then compresses it to save ram space. to actually play it, it has to be uncompressed again, which can (will) cause delay
streamed = played by continuously reading from file in chunks rather than all at once
webgl doesnt support streamed music, so thats why the music doesn't use streamed in mvl

Seeing how this is mostly a porting thing, i think itd be better to group them on 0.5, 1.0, 1.5 and so on

Iirc there are options in tilesets assets to enable if its slideable or not
oh no i was mostly saying because like one of the tiles are solids on one version and semisolids on another one
And the design is done to make good use of the solid ones, so i needa do my classic workaround for that

i brought back one of my favorite features from 1.7
the percentage based speedup condition
seen inside code that it was now handled as Stars to win - 1, which means its always forced to be only activated on 1 less star from the objective, compared to 1.7 where if you did a 99 star lobby for example, it would trigger on the 91~ star

so i brought back said percentage based condition AND made it like fboc's (80% instead of 90%)
i prefer dem fast tracks to trigger on the 8th star π£οΈ
that way you can listen to more of it compared to how youd do it on a normal game when mostly if you win its because of a combo that leads you straight to 10
there really is a lot of things to see in 2.0 and i feel like its exploring mars after already exploring the moon (1.7)

and that the spinner change is worse because it lets mini and only mini players be under it π₯
and that the top spinner blocks the ceiling and looks ugly due to being infront of the tiles so i will change that
all i will do is change the spinners position
because i dont know what can be done to the map itself to make it less ass

- A few reskins from 1.7 too (don't ask me how many, i don't even know yet.)
- Added frontrunning for every single track in the game
- Quality of life changes to better fit the old tracks into modern design
- Overall visual and audio improvements

I know the main goal of these new versions is to work as a port, yes
But of course, new content is always welcome, so people new to the mod have much more to see and old folks dont get forced to keep chewing on those stale 2 year old maps..
