#Whole levels to play & level editor

Imagine joining a lobby just to have to download the 157 maps the host made
gmod
Mainline levels are differently designed to mvl levels. You can only really get them working under the context of a race level #1059200579924148245
But even that has it's problems
look I have been thinking about it but not wanting to suggest it
How else are you going to play the custom stages then?
That's like exactly the same thing but to a lesser extent
Because you knew already this was a bad suggestion
Plus. People will be able to make deathmatch even worse
And you wouldn't know without seeing the map before
Issue is
Custom stages are not going to help at all with this game
More often than not, people are just going to try creating their own little caesars or taco bell deluxe
The playerbase has like plenty of timmies
- What about Fortress's ceiling or Pipes' pipes
Instead of actually making a level, they'll make garbage that's unplayable
what if a player makes a 1x1 box?
That already exists
WOULD IT BE VERY FAIR HUH?!
You can't really have a level with a specific or broad gimmick
Grasslands but the pit has invisible blocks over it (TrollFaceà
plus you basically have host advantage over the game even if winning doesnt really matter
If you don't know how to make a good race level, the end result will end up being a stage where the players fight the level design more than they do each other, which is not what you want in a pvp game
plus if you don't have more tilesets it will become very repetitive
And considering the "title screen levels" on SMM2 there's probably gonna be a lot of tileset swaps & nuffin else if it is even allowed
That doesn't have much to do with this, but I get what you meant to say. Since the host made the map, they'll know the level layout unlike everyone else
What? Why?
No killbind equals softlock potential
You wanna close the thread?
already suggested + bad suggestion
True! 🤝
mf really agreed with his own message
There is no killbind in mvlo, but yeah the game will have a lot of easy softlock potential if people don't know what they're doing
I literally just said that but ok
Why have both a verification system and a user-based rating system
nerd 🤓
Ok, so a whole lot of arbritrary nonsense
The game already has it's own verification system for custom maps
Methinks kids will dislike the level out of anger because they lost
Just convince ipod through the server
grassland but the ground is replaced by spinners :trull:
Not only that, they'll dislike other levels to only make their own have a better chance or something
- @proper verge joined has the thread
Yeah thanks for that vik
not anymore
Why a countdown of all things???
Then that'll create a culture of starting the game immediately to not get disliked
and/or banning those who intent to do so
I'd understand having a limit of dislikes per day but you decided on the worst possible counter for a dislikes system
your mother*
What?
dont worry hes just a kid
I think as a whole giving any kind of power to the playerbase will result in bad things happening
The existence of deathmatch proves that
no you shut up*
The reason why mario maker works is because the game is designed around making levels. Sure, it has a multiplayer option, but that's a side thing
I think a level editor will probably never come, making a functional and good looking level editor is not that easy, especially since that would open a lot of questions like how to save levels and stuff that can be worked around, however it would be a lot of work.
And a coin rush mode (At least I'll just say it is that since that's the versus mode of the NSMB games after DS) would be cool, but not what this game is about
did i ask?
also whatever discussion I ran into, stop it please, thanks
This game isn't designed for level creation-
yupsies
kindergarten moment
someone has to lock this thread, this is not going anywhere

Anyways as I was saying, this game is not designed for level creation. It's the opposide of mario maker in the sense that it focuses more on multiplayer than it does level creation. This game supports significantly less variety in forms of level design since it's levels need to focus on being an arena for the players to fight in, whereas levels in mario maker can be anything and be more acceptable
Besides, if mario maker has taught us anything, it's to never trust any level designer. That game has so many moments where you'll die or be minorly inconvenienced by a kaizo block, find a hidden thing meant to only be found by the developer, things that are easily skippable or avoidable because the level creator has no proper understanding of how the game mechanics work, ect....
Someone already suggested that before
and even i know what to do
Mvlo has a system in it where modding the game creates servers for it
The servers are separate from the vanilla game
Besides, the game is open source and ipod encourages modding
Fair enough, but it's not difficult to learn
If you really don't wanna instal unity, you can instead download a level editor for the original nsmb
That is how some people design their own levels to prototype before adding it to this game
Man this isn't even drama
Stop posting things if you have nothing of value to add
oh
I don't get what your goal is but sure I guess
Standard user?
im also a standard user and i suggest things too
maybe you could play #1101699366831529984
Oh you mean your discord roles?
That doesn't matter, really. If ipod likes your idea, it will get added
Oh, you can't install stuff to your pc?
I'm still not entirely sure what you're talking about, but this is all very unrelated to the thread. How about we move to a separate channel? The admins are likely going to see and close this thread later anyways

@restive berry please stop with the random gifs and being super aggressive in trying to “deny” suggestions or you’ll be suggestion banned
yea bit too mean
i dont wanna be rude but a level editor is probably never going to be added, its been suggested a lot of times and its just not going to work, there are too many problems with it, but if you wanna make your own levels you could make a map pack mod for the game
thats cool and all but itd still require the making of the level editor and possibilities of that
sorry but yea
tf is this?
all of the suggestions above have already been suggested and denied
it'd be extremely tough and time consuming to add, not to mention that it would mean most public lobbies would often play on maps that aren't really good. there is technically already a "level editor" but it's really just modding the game yourself. as for whole levels, that's a whole new mode that isn't mvl so that won't be added
