The is honestly the only powerup left that could probably work tbh
The rest are either too op
Or aren’t attacking powerups
Although then powerups like the cloud flower can be used to counter the propeller mushroom
Bee and boo shrooms just wouldnt work

Acorn suit has no attacking advantage
Cape and tanooki are too op
Hammer suit might work but ehh
Frog suit also has no attacking advantage
Superball also seems a bit op
Uhh, the sml2 carrot wont work as it basically was the acorn suit before that existed
Smm2 hammer is a no aswell

I think the tanooki leaf would work if it only hovered and couldn’t fly

If you just completey cancel the p-meter when you jump (when its not full)

Although i do think boomerang and cloud flowers will work the best in this game now

for once an actually good powerup suggestion the isnt essentially just saying "i want my favorite powerup" or something dumb with zero thought put into it
maybe the boomerangs could go through walls,
if they only move horizontally.
it could be useful to harass
players in their hole on Fortress
that would make it really op tho
i like the idea of it bouncing off walls but not going through them

Anyways boomerang probably would work on all current maps as its more of a range rather then whatever fire flower is
I think boomerang would be great to add, plus boomerang bros already exist in nsmb so there's already some assets for it

Boomerang Flower for sure would work well.
As for other powerups, maybe the super leaf and hammer suit?
By super leaf, I'm referring to the version that transforms Mario into Raccoon Mario.
Aaaand, that's pretty much it.
Like the original poster said, there aren't that many powerups left that could work.
Only other one I can think of is the super bell.
Somebody was actually workin' on and balancin' the hammer suit.
But then they left the server 'cuz the atmosphere didn't really do it for 'em.
And also they've been busy with real life stuff.
hammer suit would be a good counter to propeller (and mini mushroom camping), though it would probably need a counter of its own like maybe the blue shell, especially if it does damage (I doubt it)
boomerang could make it more difficult for propellers to fly/land. I think if the hammer suit were to be included then the boomerang might be a good option to fight it (could also make sliding blue shells go the other way too?)

Carrot could be a "Life saver once" power up lol
like, it gives you luigi jumps, instead of fully fluttering and if you fall in lava,poison or botomless pits, it saves you once but you lose it after that, kinda like a "Rabbit foot"
Well good idea, now the bunny ears make much more sense with that than in SML2.

This is actually a very good idea, it could make some very strategic gameplay, probably even counter campers, i really like it
also i do agree this is probably the only balanced power up left since nearly every other os too op/unbalanced
The Boomerang Flower paired with the Tanooki Leaf would actually be very cool, assuming the Tanooki can deflect projectiles.
I do think if any powerup had to be added, the Tanooki Leaf is the best choice since it is probably the next and most sensible powerup to have. The Tanooki Leaf already has animations from 2, so you can pretty much port everything from there, give it the ability to reflect stuff and you have a new powerup.
The Boomerang Flower animations from 3D World or Mario Maker 2 could be salvaged, but in terms of functionality, that might take some work.
You need to create new sprites for the boomerang thrown, so will it be tilted like in Mario Maker 2, or will it be fully shown like in Mario 3?
If it isn't tilted, how would it work differently from Mario Maker 2? Will it just work the exact same way? What about balancing? Will throwing a boomerang in a tight space be troublesome?
For the Tanooki you don't really have to guess how anything works because it's pretty much already done for you.
Actually, in NSMB2, the Super Leaf is capable of reflecting hammers from Hammer Bros and boomerangs.
So there is already precedence of it reflecting projectiles.
As for the Boomerang Flower, just have the boomerang itself function like how it does in NSMBDS.
But maybe it should towards the bottom of the screen if it goes past the original position of the thrower upon returning.

I kind of disagree. It depends on how fast it flies. It would be pretty good for walling out opponets but I think the main problem would be that you can only throw 1.
Then make it so that superball can only bounce twice before despawning and increase the max ball throw rate to two, it would have its uses in fortress and pipes as well but wouldn't be busted by any means
i think it should be on a timer of five seconds, cause 2 bounces is similar to the ice flower

Well yeah but. Same as mini mushroom. Just because its a fighting game doesn't mean there shouldn't be any mobillaty power ups
I honestly think cape would be a balance item depending on how long you fly. If you fly for 1 second it could work. And if the spinning thing is like a quick swipe. Like 0.3 seconds it could work! And bee mario could work as Well because flying in that game is usefull
cape would be the most overpowered shit ever tbh.
After all it's the powerup that destroys SMW level design + the spin is spammable without lag.
The Tanooki would be the better choice as it is less op than the cape.
also I hate the bee mushroom because it takes every last inch of the already non existent momentum out of Galaxy. Really not a fan of both those powerups.
Though I agree with your position, mobility IS a fighting advantage
(many powerups could work properly balanced, I know but I don't think that nerfing the cape that hard would be liked by people who don't think that much about balancing, that's why I'm against the cape. I could totally see the Tanooki though if flight is disabled (but you can block projectiles))
Boo could work if it just makes you invisible for like 10 seconds it would be those type of items that theres a slight chance of getting

You need to get a running start and it can be kinda hard to do so with all the chaos so it's not as bad as the propeller mushroom
The boomerang homes in on you after you throw it, it's impossible to not catch it
I disagree. I actually think it would be almost useless. You can only have 1 superball on screen at a time and it's slow
I agree. I think the hammers should have a sort of upwards arc to them so players using the propeller or possibly another flying powerup in the future could be hit more easily with the hammers
what if you could influence boomerang's arc by using your vertical velocity? like instead of it always going straight you could jump to angle it upwards or then fall to angle it downwards; might make it somewhat useful like in the middle of pipes and add some strategy elsewhere

thing is that if i remember well i already can change it's vertical position when it's coming back and that the player is above or under the point he threw the boomerang

This could work if the boomerang reflects back to the player after getting shot and limits to 1 boomerang at a time
