the beat and stuff are good but it feels a bit empty, you could try some extra stuff to fill that gap
and it repeats a lot, add some stuff between patterns and samples and stuff or make a variety for them
I like the simplicity of the verses. It’s one of those basic beats where its just 1 melody and drums and bass. It’s the hooks that make the song feel off.
Doesn’t help that Kendrick made this song in uneven Bar ratio’s either. It’s not your standard, 8-16bar verse track.
The beat is a bit too loud compared to the vocal
Hmm, Its hitting at -0db though
Unless you’re talking about the hook parts, yeah, they’re kind of quiet
yeah the instrumental is too loud compared to the vocal + the vocals feel kinda not in the mix? like it doesnt sound mixed in properly so some more work on that by doing eq,compression, reverb glue and wahtnot

He's rapping softly in the original track.

I've already boosted the Volume with upward compression, too much and you'll hear the artifacting leak through from the original track.

You aren't supposed to Compress Vocals that have already been Processed.
Only if your doing things like Time Warping/Pitching.
The Hook is what I'm focused on primarily because hooks in accepellas are always hard to accommodate for in Bootleg remix's. Escpecially in my case since I can't find what key it's in anywhere on the internet.
was the vocal stem extracted from AI? Because sometimes AI takes out some frequencies from the vocals.
it actually sounds really good but the beat is just a bit too loud and the vocals could definitely be mixed better and cut through the beat more.
honestly i find the arrangement fine and the beat is good, maybe just make the beat drop less abrupt? its a pretty huge tone change since the verses are pretty dark but the hook is way brighter (not a bad thing, but maybe it could just transition better)
