Tried making something with some 909 drums, Transistor Bass (TB-303), Serum 2, and a Korg M1 piano (samples)

Alrighty, sorry for the delay, here's my shot at giving feedback.

@crude kettle

  1. Love the bass so far, I do wonder if you could design it so there is a slight bit more low end to give it that oomph. If anything, you could always also just do a sub bass layer and just have the volume low so its not entirely overwhelming, but still gives the bassline more power. This is all subjective tho.

  2. Your drums are fine. I'd say try to turn the hats down slightly tho.

  3. I do wonder how the pads would sound with a tad bit more reverb to give it somewhat of a more "atmospheric feel."

  4. See what happens if you reduce the velocity on the piano, it sounds a bit hard hitting for my taste.

Other than that, excellent arrangement and I love where this is going.

Thanks for the feedback.

OOO, i wonder during the part where it transitions into no drums and piano, I wonder if you could do somewhat of a high pass automation with increasing reverb on the piano.

Its good feedback

#

And ideas!

#

I'll definitely try the high pass thing

#

And yea the bass is lacking in the sub department

#

Probably because of how I side chained my kick

clear axle
#

to be fair, a lot of acid bass songs aren't the most subby thing i've heard either, so it was something i had to think about giving feedback on.

#

i kinda lowkey feel like the "need for sub" is a slightly recent thing in music production overall.

I really like the bounce, had me dancing in my room fr. You should consider adding a riser before the beat drop, and cut some if not all the instruments off for a second before the beat drops to make it hit hard asf. Also where can i find drums like this?

the drums are mostly a 909 kit

#

except the snare i think

#

so should be easy to find

the keys sound like they need to be more digital

quartz irisBOT

It sound to raw for the digital elements like maybe keep the keys but add some distortion

Just go with your gut the beat is already really good

Not really a fan of the kick. Needs to have more of a transient imo. Less of a fwump and more of a thump but also needs a little more low end in the kick.

pitching it down might do the trick for the low end

Love the drum pattern at 0:35. The snares are a little too tinny for my taste. A few spots you could leave them out and have a better effect with adjusting the velocity on the hi hats

I have no say cause this is far beyond my scope as a beginner but I'd love some type of shaker to add variation to the middle where it repeats for a bit

quartz irisBOT

yea a shaker might be good
