#help with channels lagging

Hey, quite important ❗️

I’ve been running into a weird issue with FL Studio and my Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rd gen). Most of the time it works perfectly, but every now and then, totally at random, it starts making certain channels lag and crackle badly, especially when I’ve got multiple tracks open.

It doesn’t seem like an FL issue though, because if I disconnect the Scarlett everything runs fine. Even with it connected, if I turn off the plugins it plays back smoothly. And the plugins I’m using aren’t heavy at all… just some EQ and a bit of reverb on doubles.

What’s confusing is that it only happens on specific channels. Like, one track recorded with the Scarlett will play fine, while another (recorded the exact same way) glitches out. Even crazier: some older takes that were previously clean now crackle during playback, even though they used to be perfect. This all happens in playback, not while recording.

I’ve already checked the usual stuff (sample rate matching, buffer size, etc.), but no luck so far. If anyone has an idea what might be going on, I’d really appreciate the help 🙏. And if it’s too much to explain here, feel free to DM me 🤠

also @molten vine these are my audio settings, don’t mind the device one, I don’t have my Focusrite connected rn

#

if necessary I’ll pick it up and connect it to fix the issue

#

if anyone got any idea why it’s not working the right way

if you want I can show the Asio Panel

#

last parameter says 1188 samples

#

lmk if I need to change anything

#

I checked the Focusrite settings and it matches

#

the sample rate

#

Nah, that seems fine. When the track starts crackling do you see the "0 underruns" number go up?

#

Although..

#

What do you mean by "multiple tracks open"?

no way, i just figured out how to fix that, i just had to turn off “multithreaded mixer processing”

sharp rain
#

lemme show you

#

anyway thank you very much, without you telling me I’d have never thought I had to change some audio settings

sharp rain
#

but when I turn on all of them

#

some tracks get that issue

I know this is the worst way to handle different takes but I’m still new to Fl studio don’t judge 💀😭

molten vine
#

oh right

#

nah, that's fine

#

I was worried you had like multiple DAWs open or somethingh

molten vine
#

although if that fixes it, it sounds like it might be a PC issue

#

which is really weird, and honestly I'm not sure if I would be able to help if that is the case.

#

i’ll work on that later

#

I’ll let you know

sharp rain
#

it only works if i turn off multithreaded mixer processing

#

any other way doesn’t work

molten vine
#

That is very strange

It's just not an issue I've run into before, or can even hypothesize what might be causing it.

molten vine
#

A few people are saying it's a plugin that's causing it. You said you weren't using many, but it might be worth turning everything off and if that fixes it, going one by one to find the culprit.

sharp rain
#

anyway thank you for the support i’ll check the links out

do you think i should get my buffer to 512 instead of turning off the multithreaded mixer processing?

#

do you think it could be relevant to have it on?

#

does it concretely affect my music?

#

cos as I said i’m still very new to fl studio and i’m not a sound engineer nor have i ever studied music theory

#

therefore

#

I just rely on my ears 😭

#

I’m here mainly to get technical advices
