this is generally what i do when im in the studio is jus produce, engineer and help other producers that come in with A&R'ing and ideas and some other stuff, my main goal in the industry is to find like minded producers that are strong enough to take in constructive critism, helping them too and also evolving their crafts to next level

if your going for lofi id make the hihats go more analog and or atmospheric sound maybe some delay and reverb sidechained to the hihats

for the snare it needs a little bit more high mids to snap a bit more

the kick pumps but id say it needs some distortion and needs less of a tale on the end

it depends on what vibe your going for tho

like for my old beats i went for a more scratchy and heavy presence sound

where like you said the other day it hurt your ears its more the fact it had heavy presence and if you have your sound all the way up it would hurt your ears as they are mastered in -14 lufs and dont have a limiter or clipper on master its more the fact of compression

but with lofi you have less highs and what takes up most of the space is the vinyl cassette textures
