have you considered layering and the use of chords?

stark granite
#

no 😭

wheat mortar
#

lmao how long ago did you start?

#

Respectfully has it been a matter of hours

stark granite
#

downloaded it today

#

this beat took like an hour

wheat mortar
#

pretty good for an hour my first beat literally took me days

#

my best peace of advice anf just to be clear im no pro or anything, but just mess around and find the software out, and youll get an idea for what beats aare spose to sound like eventually

#

obviously look into music theory but i watched like one video lmao

stark granite
#

i listened to your beat and damn the bass or 808s or whatever are amazing

wheat mortar
#

i really appreciate it, i only use free synths lol

#

did u ues flex for a synth?

#

on your beat

stark granite
#

i just used the regular electric keyboard that comes with fl studio

wheat mortar
#

damn ion even know what that is whats it called on fl?

#

sytrus?

stark granite
#

no idea it just says electric

wheat mortar
#

interesting hit add and find flex on the list its a synth full of preset sounds and its what i started with

#

lots of cool sounds you should try em out

#

you cant break fl so just try a bunch of shit but theres that one plugin that says like dont use if you dont know what your doing, that shit scares me so i jus leave it

stark granite
#

np

stark granite
#

a lil better

#

took 15 mins

wheat mortar
#

Definitely better, just keeping making more stuff though, you’ll get what makes a song better that way

#

Also I have no idea what makes a song good just that there is a structure almost for certain genres, like how the kick beat goes or how the melodies go, what key and scale you play in, either way you’ll get it just don’t let anyone discourage you

Watch a single FL Studio Guru video

#

You'll jump like a month worth of experimenting

#

Not saying that what FLSG makes is good, but they deliberately run through an excessive amount of functionality to demonstrate it in their vids

#

yeah that's not bad at all for a few hours in fl, my first track's if you could call it that, sounded like circus music😂

# stark granite

thats a good start, id learn instruments at the same pace as the rest cause eventually you'll have a sound in ur mind and cant recreate it cause you cant find the right instrument, especially with fl studio

#

this was my first beat lmao, its hot ass and discards everything about music theory and prolly even some laws of relativity n shit, and this was on soundtrap, not fl studio, and i had NO prior production knowledge

#

but urs is def better than mine lmao

#

my first real fl beat was after 2 years of producing so its pretty incomparable if this is ur first time producing

drifting shore

#

lmao none taken, i think its awful now, i literally booted up soundtrap, made an account, and started pressing notes together

drifting shore
#

yeah that sums up what most of us does first time in any daw i guess 🙂

fathom scaffold
#

yeah pretty much lol

#

i literally made that in middle school too

drifting shore
#

oh damn
