I am running FL on a macbook pro M2 and anytime I am in a phone call, facetime, or discord call, the sound of my FL project becomes terrible and sounds very grainy, distorted, and crunchy. I believe it is something to do with an apple setting because it seems like the case when your on a call on a phone and you try to play a video while on call, the audio is muddy so you can still hear the person. Does anybody have any thoughts or experienced something similar?
#Terrible Sound Quality when running FL while in call

Are you using airpods in this scenario?
Or some other Bluetooth headphone?
Bluetooth will use a different sample rate when the microphone is active, which can cause this grainy sound.
Yes it’s through AirPods. I contacted apple support and they it’s because the AirPods are trying to function using their “call software” and “application software” at the same time, as you’re describing with the mic being active.
Do you know what this sample rate might be? When I tried changing it while in a discord call, it began giving me errors upon opening FL to where I had to restart my computer to open it again
IIRC airpods do 16khz when the mic is active, and 48khz when you're not using the mic. FL Studio doesn't support 16khz as a SampleRate, so you'll definitely get errors when trying to do this
I suggest making an aggregate audio device, where you use the Macbook microphone, and the airpods as your output.
This is an old screenshot, but it should help
What kind of software or whatever are you using to make an aggregate device?
I think it's "audio and midi setup" start searching midi in your Mac search bar thing, you'll get there
Alternatively, do a google, it's a very common thing on MacOS
I have the same issue with airpods and it's driving me nuts
For a temporary fix I just ended up using my iPhone as the mic for discord and it was all good after that
Great thank you, I’ll give it a try
