#Making a new song. Wondering if it sounds Synthwavy

yeah it does. I could see it being featured on the new retrowave channel
hm alright
@silk rose could u tell me a bit more on my song perhaps
i know its a really short clip
What key is it? I also think the kick can use a bit more low end, if you make it sound boomy I think this would really improve it, also you can play with the melody that is introduced after the bass.
oh
I think you could use some more dynamic range but im not sure on that
i should delete that one lol
like panning
sure
maybe i can do some automation panning on the melody
i havent done much automation yet on reaper
maybe give the lead melody some soundgoodizer and boost the highs a bit but other than that im not sure
just a tad
oh yu dont use fl?
yep sure
you could also give the bass some more room to accomodate by playing with its mids as it is beefy already
im not sure about filters tho
thats what i would try but bear in mind im still kinda new
u know more than me
its only been like 2 months since I started
i ahve a lot to learn
I dont understand this tho
more room to accommodate?
yea like make room for the other instruments but taking its mids away and giving it a more background feel. I generally play with EQ till it sounds right to me, try it and if it works great. i may be wrong tho
sure I could lower the volume a bit and remove some stuff
i do feel like it was droning on a bit
yup but you still need its power so just a bit on the background but you still keep the power
alright I will keep these changes in mind
good use of reverb on the drums, really feels retro
feels like things are slightly unmixed. lead that comes in at :17 for example feels much louder than everything else and the synths in general are louder than the drums, strings would sound a bit better placed further behind, i think
i can hear that it's clipping a bit, it sounds like it's exceeding 0db
other than that, keep writing it and composing it, i'd say worry about some of this stuff later when the song is finished
it is clipping
idk how to fix that
the drums are not my own work but they are good
turn your stuff down so it's not peaking over 0db on the master, give yourself some headroom
yea i will level it out
i at least dont hear weird sounds
but dynamic range is something i cant seem to point out
yeah i think i heard like 1 click?
but most of it was fine
so its not clipping
try see what happens when you change the value at
"display offset"
make it smaller if possible
and you can stick with combined rms i guess
old kick is better
