#Don't know what genre

Ah yes exactly the feedback I need because the lead to me sounds like it's volume is all over, thanks. I'll do some adjustments and repost a corrected one
Probably need to do some cutoff of the highs
dropped some high levels, do let me know if it's still too hard on the ears (may require a new synth/instrument entirely if so)
yoooo sorry for the late response
it sound a lot better i think the lead sounds good now the bell around the 2:20 mark could use a bit of cleanig
and theres like a pluck ore somthing i like the pattern but the sound is a littel cheap
you have fl you can look in the plugin flex that one has some good plucks
but good beat bro i like the energy keep it up 👍
(btw really like the retro 8 bit drum sectoin)
@chilly gyro No worries, just you offering feedback is more than enough for me, nvm the late response haha
I'm actually using FLEX pluck for this but I understand, I'll find something else or make some adjustments
Thanks for the compliment on my song overall though and for the feedback, you have no idea what a huge help it is, so much appreciated
No worries just glad I can help 😄
Nice tune.. have done eq for every single sound? Just using low and high pass filters cleans a lot the mix, you can also side gain your lead/kick so that things have more space..
One important thing is to lower all the fades, then rise your kick to -9db, then rise your bass so that they play well together and after that all the rest..
What is your main element in the tune? Then you can decide what to rise next based on that..
You can also try to make some automations for the lead so that the sound is not static and also trying to keep the bass in mono with the kick and other things in stereo and panned so you create a 3dimensional sound
So that every element has its on space and is clearly audible
Hi there, I have done some EQ-ing for each sound but I don't think I have it down yet, I mainly use my ears to determine how it sounds and not based on any "science". I even accidentally ruined a mix in the process but luckily didn't save, but I got it, I'll be trying out pass filters next as you suggest.
Fades? Unsure what that is, but kick to -6b and raise bass - got it.
Main element would be the melody and the guitars I think,
I did panning for the two bass I used in the song, but yes automation, mono and stereo would be next as well. I was just afraid automation would make the melody sound a little too weird in terms of volume.
Love the feedback, very useful and gives me a direction on what mixing technique I should learn next. This is my 3rd song on FL Studio and one that I feel very appropriate to try mixing on so thanks!
LOL, unsure if that's a compliment but I'll take it as one so thanks!
You want the bass in Mono, at the center.. (you can use some advanced techniques later on to parallel process the bass and put it in stereo+mono,)
It’s useful also to look at your eq as well as listen, focus on this first.
- set volumes for kick (-9db, I made a mistake above in the post, -9 is what you are aiming)
- level the bass so that you can eat perfectly kick with bass
- level the snare and then following all the other drums level other things in order of importance to you.
4 upload the song here again so we can hear your progress
Yes I will upload a (hopefully) better EQ-ed version sometime next week. Thanks again for the direction.
@austere crystal
Altered the song a bit as per your guide, releveled the bass etc and changed up the plucks as per other commentor. Fiddled with automation but yet to find a setting I'm happy with, might do that in a bit. I think it doesn't sound very different but definitely some changes I guess, I decided not to touch the snares etc as I think they're fine as they are.
I believe you lead is taking over the whole mix… your kick and bass do not sound in mono (however since I was listening in my car with my phone /Bluetooth, I can’t truly replicate the actual sound..)
If you want I can have a look at your project, and see what you have done with the mix, I will save a new version and send it back highlighting the mixer tracks and the changes I made..
Have you used native plugins?
As long as it is not too inconvenient for you, that would be greatly appreciated. Yes, it's nothing but FL plugins and FLEX that I used for this project (Currently, my focus is still on the whole production aspect and instrumentation etc, which is why my mixing is almost non existent).
This is the FLP, just do whatever with it, I've saved a copy of the original so it'll be much easier for me to see what changes and improvements have been made
Also, I'm personally unsure of the song length myself, I feel it doesn't have to be that long, don't think there's enough variety for it to run that long
If it works we can jump on the “share screen room” so that you can follow what I do, it will be good for you and whoever is watching if not experienced already, however im out camping for the next 3 days
No problem, just drop me a PM or message here when you're back and I'll be down to follow along
What’s your time there? I’m aest
I don't live in the US though but I'm okay with staying up a little bit more to see what you do (GMT +9 here)
👍
Hi buddy, i opened your project, however im missing some sounds
but that's ok, we can go over the basics
ah yes I used some of FLEX's Synthesizer Science pack sounds
no problem, just let me know the plan
Hi Elzer, i sent you a pm
let's jump in Chat 3
hold on
