I don't think it's safe to just post the audio file, only to avoid the work being stolen
That's why i posted a soundcloud link
SoundCloud links are not allowed, that's a hard rule.
How else can i get feedback then avoiding getting my work stolen?
Watermark it or sum idk#
Look, if I really wanted to steal your work I could use a SoundCloud downloader anyway
Watermarking or tagging are common techniques
How can i apply these?
That's up to you
Tags are more often than not just some voice clip at the beginning of the track
That’s true
wait, wdym by tags
I've seen the watermark one. But first time hearing tags
A producer tag (sometimes simply called a tag) is the element of a song, typically at the beginning of it, inserted there by the song's producer – a short sound meant to familiarize the listener with who is responsible for the production of the song. Most notably prevalent in hip hop music, producer tags became popular during the 2000s, and were...
anyone who wants your audio can easily take it with a number of basic methods, might as well just share it
Well yes, but since it's released i have every copyright of it
Why are you asking for feedback on a released piece?
well if it is already released then what is the problem
Cause why not
Another thing: if it's released and someone steals the work, you have every right to file a takedown
It's just the vollume of it appears to be lower compared to other songs
and i noticed that when i've put the song on the speakers
ima send a demo of it @acoustic jolt
got anythin?
Cool atmos
i am keen to give whatever feedback comes to mind but i just stepped out for lunch
I can't hear anything particularly wrong with this
Might've been cool to hear some more sub action going on during the big brass hit
It's the volume that i'm concenred about
I think it doesnt sound as loud as other tracks
compared to this one by maddix https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAX7gNrw4nA&pp=ygUPbWFkZGl4IGdhc29saW5l
what's that measure?
I'll spare you the insanity and just say it means loudness
ah
I usually go for more compression
But you have to be careful with that, or else you could get something that sounds bleh
I haven't mastered techno before, so I dunno what tricks you guys use
what's the most common thing that you do then to boost the song volume?
.
Sometimes if I'm feeling it, I'll even clip the master
Do it.
Compression on master is such a common technique
I could get killed for saying it, but:
- Load Maximus on master
- Presets -> Mastering -> Clear Master RMS
why killed xd
hellyeah, i was literally going to shitpost saying throw maximus on that thing
Nowadays I use Limiter No.6 for mastering, but I used Maximus for so long
But yeah Clear Master tends to be overcompressed if your input gain is too high
HOLY CRAP MY EARS
is that good or bad
it doesnt distort
cuz i have softclipper in it
only vocals kinda distorted
but i just lowered the master track a bit
consider lowering the vocal channel instead
try it just to see if it sounds different or better or worse
i mean, the master iteself sits on 0db
up to you just giving options
in still out but i checked the previous demo on my phone. ill hit play on this
@acoustic jolt
clear master is also a decent preset to work from i was actually comparing Clear Master to Clear Master RMS today and RMS tends to sound somewhat like an exciter or saturator is turned up a little more compared to just clear master, not sure the exact setting that is different between the two but you can use either as a base and adjust the intensity of the compression from there
i think it sounds good to me
ended up lowering the vocals too
cuz they were distorting
Loud enough be like able to hear the song from the headphones when you dont wear them 😂
personally i've never used a compressor before xd
how long you been at this? thats crazy tbh lol
like 2 months
from octomber
how old are you?
20
got a long road of music ahead then lol have fun man
haha, i will
currently stuck
tryna find out what i'm gonna add or do with the new track i'm workin on
why that reaction though xd
working out the structure of a track is probably the most fun part of composing for me. its fun to find solutions to sensibly progress further
because compressors are essential to virtually all modern mainstream music and have been for decades
ah
I'm comming from the world of Djing
I like these guitars
Do me a favor
play superhero from skillet on that xd
It will sound damn amazing
idk, i just start from a part of the song that gives me inspiration
mostly the breadowns
cuz it leads me somehow on how i'm gonna make the drop and progress the song
sure its a fine starting point many start at the crescendo then figure out how to build to it or from it
theres no right way to approach your structure really which is what makes it fun for me even if i sometimes think my approach is quite formulaic
but you learn how certain things work in that respect when you do it over and over again so thats also normal
For me i usually just start with a melody and work from there, either that or i'll start with a bass line. Although i do make a different type of music than u so idk how my methods would work for that lol
I think it's more usefull for me goin for the breakdowns since they are recognizable and have vocals in it make it better for me
