there's quite a bit of overlap between video editing and music production
both have the concept of post-fx that you can apply to the video/audio
what sort of video editing have you done? trust me when i say that's an important question
sorry this isnt a self promo but heres my yt i did a variety but i can break it down to alot of other types of editing with my knowledge behind it
but for the most part it was video game
s
but the knowledge i have can expand
lol
so, it looks like you usually cover game footage but have also done recorded stuff too
that's good
thx but u can tell by alot of the edits that the sfx are horrible
ignoring that for now since your experience is on video
but if you think about game footage, you record some clips, import them into the editing software, stitch them together, add effects to each of the clips / clip groups, then render and export
music production follows that exact workflow
lol me too
oh
brandon gang les go
how old are u if u dont mind me asking?
20
yea i figured
so how do u think i should start music production that maybe u should of known when u did?
find a genre you want to make, watch a bunch of walk-throughs for that kind of genre, then keep playing from there
busyworksbeats on youtube has really good videos for anything music production
oh ok what are the key fundamentals to learn?
definitely small amounts of music theory (save that for later though, it's a bit complex if you don't have prior experience) and just knowing what each plugin you have does
like for my editing i would say my fundamentals would be flow execution and pacing <--- but thats just my form of editing
if that's the kinda fundamentals you're looking for, then instrument choice and arrangement
arrangement is pacing
i feel like with music its all the same concept right? like even though there is alot of different styles of music alot of people can agree on a fixed format?
than video
?
all i'll say is balance is important in audio. things like chord progressions and arrangement are all just games of balancing energy and emotion
and while most of the "fixed format" things in music all maintain balance, don't let that stop you from doing your own thing
the software you use is entirely up to preference
oh ok
uhh ik we cant talk abt pirating in here but im just wondering is it a good way to start then as progression invest?
i did that with ae
where i pirated but as i got better i invested
if you want to legally "pirate", download the trial versions of the software you want to try
ok ok
ok ok ill try ableton im guessing it has the same stuff so ill just use it to get the breakdown it then use fl trial to progress?
