#what is the glass transistion temperature of the pa6-gf?
7 messages · Page 1 of 1 (latest)
PA6-GF should be annealed at 80c for 6 hours
Once annealed HDT is around 180C ish
But I have been seeing whitepapers/research articles saying to do many different things, one of them is more akin to metal annealing in that the temperature is at the higher end of the glass transition temperature and says to VERY slowly ramp up temperature, oscillate it up and down slowly to encourage the largest crystal growth possible, and then slowly cool. Is the instruction on the product page for the widest audience or are there special instructions I can follow for the strongest anneal?
Slowly ramp up yes, oscillating am not sure.
Yes the slower and more consistent temperature the better. Oscillating doesn’t help grow the crystalline structures in most plastics… and if I am wrong I would love to read about it ❤️
I’m annealing pa6 with a uv heat lamp. It’s 1500w but I’ve got a 2500w dimmer on it. I got thrown out of the kitchen years ago clear coating an intake manifold 😀
